Safe to say New York was a hell hole in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, but you know what? It was a hell hole that had soul, and that's sadly what's lacking in many American cities today.

Everyone was thin. I walked through time square from grand central station to the garment district that year to get to my office.Times Square was an awful, seedy place back then.
