Hi, you shouldn't need to install a second soil AAV on a soil stack unless it's part of a trap on the waste.

What about if you have solar with battery storage ? do you know what kWh is used to run electric heating per m2 ?
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 3 ай бұрын
Hi Wayne. Unfortunately we are a supplier of water based Underfloor Heating Systems but we can say typically electric UFH is 3 x more expensive to run when comparing it to a water based UFH system. Electric UFH can be purchased in different size output options so giving an exact kWh output would depend on a few variables.

Hi , nice video !! Can you use copper pipe into this types of fittings ? Thanks
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 7 ай бұрын
Yes you can. Just keep an eye on insertion depths. Our plastic pipe features a K mark so you can see when the pipe has been fully inserted, copper obviously doesn't have this. If you look on the fittings however there is a thin line. If you measure from there to the end of the fitting, then measure the same distance on your length of copper and make your own mark, then you can insert the copper into the fitting up to the mark you've made and know it is fully inserted 👍

I got one of this joint blown off during central heating working when it reached the max temp. The only thing that came to my mind as I didn't know I could open it, was to refit the pipe back in. The metal insert got trapped in the fitting so it wasn't so straight forward but managed to push it back. Is it not recommended to do?

Hi Antonio. Whilst PolyPlumb is a permanent system, we do not recommended you reuse the grab ring when reusing a fitting as it is likely to have been deformed. You can see this from about 2:30 in the video. We do sell spare component kits through stocking merchants. An example of that is here www.bes.co.uk/15-mm-polyplumb-spare-components-kit-21317/. Hope this helps!

How come pb pipe is banned in the USA yet we use it in the UK ?
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. In the mid 1990's a US lawsuit (Cox) claimed defects in "Polybutylene plumbing systems". The premature failures in the USA, allegedly caused by Polybutylene, were due to the incorrect use of acetal fittings and poor joint assembly techniques. While no official ban exists in that market, in view of the outcome of the US litigation, Polybutylene or products from Polybutylene are not sold for use in North America. Hope this helps!

I find this a bit confusing - at the beginning of the video it is said that the grey and white pipe are exactly the same - same size, same specification, just a different colour, but why are the insertion depths different then?
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the insertion depths differ because of the fittings. Our grey fitting has a different insertion depth to our white fittings. You would usually use a grey fitting with grey pipe and a white fitting with white pipe, hence the K marks are suited as such. You can mix fittings with pipe, I.e. grey pipe with white fitting, but you would then just have to not rely on the K marks as a guide for insertion. Hope this helps 👍

Not a dig mate, I'm still learning. "If the pipe run is more than 1.7m you must install an air admittance valve"? Where exactly? Is that on that particular pipe run, or somewhere on the complete pipe system for that property? What if there is already an open vent, I.e. soil stack? In my experience an antisyphon trap would take care of some of the issues you raised and are much more discreet than an AAV. I've seen those soil aav's widely abused. Many times I've seen them installed right next to the toilet, below cistern level.
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for your message and feedback! You have a number of options and please accept our apologies - it should have been more clearer on this in the video... Your first option would be to have a trap with anti-syphon built into it, this is as you say probably the best option in most installs (and the easiest). Your second option would be to use a waste AAV on the waste pipe run, but this would depend on where the waste pipe is positioned and if you have the space. Your third option would be to vent the soil stack itself, ideally as you advise above the top of the cistern.

I'm happy with the system that is in place, but want to change the Tap. Do I need to renew the joint, or can I disassemble, swap out a new tap, then reassemble?
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, If you were disassembling you would need a spare components kit for PolyPlumb. This will allow you to replace the seal and the grab ring to ensure that the fitting remains secure when you reassemble. Product codes would be 10mm PB9510, 15mm PB9515, 22mm PB9522 or 28mm PB9528.

I have a problem with fitting the 1.5" (40mm) flexible pipe to the bottom of the cistern siphon end and the toilet bowl. The nut connection of the flexible pipe (possibly EU 40mm) and siphon bottom (possibly BSP 1.5") keeps leaking. If I tighten too much, the threads slip. Do you think the threads of the siphon bottom (BSP 1.5") and the female nut (EU 40mm) of the flexible pipe might be different? If so, do you supply an adaptor for this?
@PolypipeTrade
@PolypipeTrade 3 жыл бұрын
Hi @pentimento. You would really need to ask the company who supplied the cistern for a solution to this. Our adaptor is designed for the inlet of our traps to work with undersized outlets. We call these fittings UK to Euro adaptors because the vast majority of traps sold in Europe are a different design to UK traps and this adaptor essentially converts the inlet part of our trap to the European design. We don't supply an adaptor for what you are after I'm afraid! Many thanks, Polypipe Building Products.
