Thank You. My background in business was designing, fabricating and building custom motorcycles from 1996 to 2019. Website is no longer but there is Facebook and image history under the name, 'Special Effects Chopperworks' Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Returned to the hobby in 2018 after more than forty years. Encouragement from fellow modellers started the newer YT posts. Only had the 1/35 Lost in Space, Jupiter 2 posed in flight at first. It was the second build coming back to scale models. Learning to improve on video editing. Working on a 1/350 Polar Lights, Star Trek Enterprise Refit using the Trekmodellers Warp 8 light and sound kit, MaskDesign masks. Very challenging build. It will be posed on a custom stand that allows 360 degree tilting of the model. I look forward to see more of your work.

There is several videos of a Canadian, Mk.IXc Spitfire with the pilot, Dave Hadfield posted on the Playlist, included on my channel. The Spitfire Preflight/Walkaround Tour video is very informative and his flying tutorials are really cool. If you have not seen them yet I believe you will enjoy. I live in Burlington, Ontario, Canada and have the fortune to live close to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. We get to see their Lancaster, B-25J, Canso and C-47 fly low, close and sometimes over our house turning back to the airport. Visiting warplanes will come up from the States.

Looking at the model it doesn’t seem like there is room for the bottom deck. In fact there was a third deck in one episode showing the reactor.

The original ship (Gemini) for the pilot episode had one deck with just the family. It was meant to have a minor role as the transport to a hostile planet never to fly again. It followed the theme of, 'Swiss Family Robinson'. The story was to be the struggle of the family to survive. Irwin Allen was told by the network to make the changes. A new model was too expensive for the budget to build so, in reality the lower deck would not be possible in the revised version. The broadcast was at 7:30PM to have an all age audience. It should have aired at 9:00PM to keep with what was considered at the time unsuitable for children during the first season. The chariot is a converted snow cat. The upper structure is meant to disassemble and has a storage bay with an outer door on the underside of the ship. The space for it would have been reasonable to assume if it was to fit the Gemini. Lost In Space was a 1960s SCI FI TV show watched on televisions that were mostly black and white screens with an average size of 13 inches. Broadcasting was generally poor. The hope was the show would be popular with the whole family but ended up more for kids. Many adults at the time did not consider SCI FI as important in their lives as younger/future generations. They had other priorities in life.

This was built using the Tamiya F-4EJ kit #60314 that came with the full complement of stencil/panel number decals by Cartograf. Unfortunately, they are the early markings and I had to modify to look more like the special paint done for the farewell. 301 was the first and I will be building the , 440, the last, newest F-4E built in the KAI paint scheme in flight so the two can be displayed together along with A Tamiya F-15J, 02- 8801 the first of that type in the JASDF kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ideHdreAnq3OaKc.html video has 301 and 801 (7:01) There are many JASDF high quality videos documenting the final year of the Phantom IIs. I used an Evergreen 3/16 inch tube Item #226 internally with the exit just above the bottom of the lower fuselage. It is positioned to allow a roll of 360 degrees. To add more rotational friction it is done simply by curving the metal rod before installing.

With the encouragement of fellow UK modellers I posted more videos. This was done early on without some of my new equipment and video editing apps. The only video post I had up before then was one of the first models built after returning to the hobby, the Lost in Space Jupiter II 1/35 Moebius model. It is displayed in flight, the second kit will be built resting on its landing legs. I use a mix of SMD, 2mm and 3mm L.E.D.s, for jet afterburners, a candle flickering type is an improvement. The 1/48 Revell Germany SR-71 has them. The individual videos of the JASDF F-4EJ, 301 and the F-15J, 801 shows the lit exhaust at the end of the recordings. For the 1/32 F-16CJs, I plan on backlighting the consoles and instrument panels through the 3D decals. All of my current and future projects use AC to DC adapters instead of batteries. I have developed more stylized custom stands that hide the power wire. If you get one of the Tamiya F-4J kits it will be an impressive model out of the box. You have probably watched the video but if not it is worth a look kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iqx3gKt6zLKZm5c.html and kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZppodbyJ0bXOZ2g.html All this Phantom discussion makes me want a F-4J now.

I love it. Well done. The only other comment I'd make is the set up. If you painted the stand matt black, put a black board behind and turned the room lights out, then shine a torch on the Jupiter 2, it will appear to float in space. I did this 40 years ago to the USS Enterprise and it looked amazing. Unfortunately we didn't have smart phones back then to easily capture the video.
@SEMJW5 ай бұрын
Thank you, Andrew. This was the third model build after returning to the hobby in 2018 after forty years. The model is displayed in a dedicated model room on a 46 inch monitor placed horizontally with enough space to place the second Jupiter (info in the description) with its legs deployed inside a yellow circle. The monitor can be used to display images and video while adding illumination. It is a good idea to hide the stand. In time a base with a curved transition to the vertical background that covers the stand completely would be ideal. The video is the first recording/posting on KZfaq I made and the location was the brightest part of the house at the time. With thirty model builds completed and another twenty being built it is a hobby for my recent retirement from designing/building custom motorcycles. One of the kits is the 1/350 Polar Lights Star Trek Enterprise Refit using the Trekmodeler Warp 8 light (plus a lot of added lights) and sound kit, their paint guide for the Aztec colours, MaskDesign vinyl masks and more. Fabricated a multi position stand to enable the model to pitch in any direction. It should be finished by mid to late Summer.

@@SEMJW May I ask do you use the AK Etreme metal colours silver/aluminium/chrome. I have found they are very durable. I have had no trouble masking over it when dry.
@SEMJW5 ай бұрын
I use AK 3rd gen and their True Metal that can be buffed and several other brands for metallics. When a high polished aluminum to chrome finish is needed like the AirCorp Aviation P-47 or a future build, a 1/24 Mk. IXc Spitfire that will be G-IRTY the Silver Spitfire a chrome ink is the best choice I have found to get a mirror like appearance. AK Super Chrome is advertised as a stronger ink compared to the Molotow brand but I have not found much of a difference. The goal is not to have fully chrome overall as it would make the model look toy like so I modulate the reflectiveness. The videos do not show the higher reflective quality as much as how it looks in person. Also a varnish would protect the ink but it would dull/degrade the appearance.@@mikeMuppetmodeller

This is awesome! How hard was it to install a motor to make the prop spin?
@SEMJW5 ай бұрын
Motor is a 12 volt, round .949 inch (24.1mm) diameter x .487 inch that fits perfectly on the parts behind the engine detail plate. I fabricated a collar to house the motor. The trick is to setup a drive shaft to run without wobble, common problem with model conversions. The Hobby Boss kit instructions/part does not have the prop facing the correct way so it needs altering. The prop as you know spins counter clockwise when looking at the front of the plane. Some of the video make it appear the turn is running the opposite way. I had it at different rpm during recording that is the most likely cause. I retired from my business of designing/building custom motorcycles. With that I am able to make the stainless steel display stands for my aircraft models. The latest is the P-47D Razorback. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.

@SEMJW5 ай бұрын
@SEMJW 2 months ago The figure is from the 1/35 MiniArt 'Soviet Tank Ammo Loading Crew' kit P# 35131 Made in Ukraine. Hitler had light blue eyes, the figure has dark blue eyes. (subtle humor) My mom (7 years old) lived in England during the beginning of the Battle of Britain on Mornington Ave. in London and was convinced she found Hitler pretending to be the local Butcher. They had to flee the bombing to a rural area of England while her dad fought in El Alamein North Africa. There are cats and objects that look like Hitler. The video does give the impression due to shadows. To see it first hand, the figure doesn't resemble Hitler. Is it me or.....no it isn't. The people that comment that the figure looks like Hitler have mostly 0 content on their channels. I do not mind the question and understand why people ask. It is mostly because they think it is clever, unique, funny and do not expect a serious response. I grant them the dignity/respect of that versus believing them to be hateful, and stupid enough to imagine a model of a space ship from an American, 1960 TV show based in the year 1997 that a 108 year old man that died at 56 in 1945 can be a young 20 something capable of flying a complicated spacecraft not to mention the hoops he would have to jump through during the job interview with HR at Alpha Control. I write all this so I can cut and paste the response the next time the question is asked. Thank you for the compliment.

Scale models depict a moment in time. For this build I imagined, 37543 receiving special attention after being rewarded for shooting down a MIG-17 by wingman Lt. Patton in (call sign) 'Papoose 409' while on a RESCAP mission with Lt. Peter Russel. If I built a diorama it would depict a land based scene with a ground crew close to finishing washing/cleaning the aircraft for a media-photo event. That is why components are in there position and some of the surfaces are glossy from water used for rinsing. There is still some staining depicted overall and oil streaks on the underside of the fuselage. The Zoukei Mura kit has moveable side dive brakes, canopy and wings so as to have posing options. You did not ask why the wing support rods and the intake shutter indicator rod are not depicted or why the main tires are not weighted. I have the rods if I choose to add and I will get a set of resin weighted tires in time. I have built it to allow a moveable chart table in the instrument panel and the ability to change the intake shutters from open or closed. The fuel tanks are removeable. The static wicks are molded into the flight surfaces. I have modified my other Zoukei Mura Skyraider by replacing them with stainless steel rod and will do the same to this model eventually. Spandex line for the antenna. I use canopy glue for line tensioners most of the time fine wire for spring types. This was the fourth model build (2018) after forty years away from the hobby. It was one of three kits that brought me back.
