Would you recommend "Happiness" to me? I'm not into gender stuff or anything like that. "Waltz", for example, does not appeal to me, while "Shino can't say her name" did seem interesting and I'll be looking into that. I know it's dark and I do like stories that get dark. Is "Happiness" still worth a shot for me?

Welcome Back Alice really knocked it out of the park in the second half. Tack sharp, deeply personal, unapologetic and even joyful, some of Oshimi's best work. Top 2 with Inside Mari (I can't choose, they both do what they're going for so well). Also some of my favourite visual metaphor he's put to page, super evocative and affecting.

"Astra Lost in Space" is interesting among Kenta Shinohara's series because, unlike "Sket Dance" and "Witch Watch", this series A) has a coherent story line and B) seems to put much less emphasis on comedic elements.

My advice when trying a new comic is to go in with zero expectations, let the story simply entertain, that way it doesn’t disappoint you because you’re letting the story set its own bar.

i love Dorohedoro a lot. and it was a surprise when i found Dai Dark in my Library, and it was a surprise when i found out that one of my favorite Anime/Manga's Art and Story Director wrote this book. so i immediately checked it out. i just looked up a review for Dai Dark and i somehow already watched this video and literally dont remember when i watched it. but anyway. im here now, so thanks for covering Dai Dark abd Dorohedoro.

As far as my collection now, I have all of Naruto, all the current volumes of Boruto, all of Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball, all the current omnibuses of One Piece, a few volumes of Bleach, all of Yu Yu Hakusho, all the currently made volumes of Hunter x Hunter, every single Yu-Gi-Oh! volume as well as all the spin-off mangas of it, I’m working on finishing Rurouni Kenshin, I have all the current ones for My Hero Academia, One-Punch Man, all of Dr. Stone, Food Wars, Assassination Classroom, Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland, some of Jujutsu Kaisen, Slam Dunk, Haikyu, D.Gray-Man, Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, Kaiju No. 8, Shaman King, Toriko, Gintama, Blue Exorcist, Undead Unluck, all of the current volumes of Black Clover, all of Death Note, the first volumes of all the JoJo parts so far, some of Inuyasha and Yashahime, some of Black Lagoon, all of Fairy Tail, The Seven Deadly Sins, some of Vagabond as well as all the Colossal Editions of Attack On Titan and all the Deluxe Editions of Berserk. I’m hoping to get a box set for Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul: Re. A good amount of these were hard to get since some weren’t sold where I am, I had to order some series from America like Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, Toriko and Gintama. I like to have all my Shonen Jump mangas together and I personally prefer getting omnibus versions of manga so a lot of the ones I listed are in 3 in 1 omnibus editions. I wish a lot more had omnibuses, but I’m still super happy with my collection and can’t wait to get more.

Hoping this anime get a reboot

Happiness is my least favorite unfortunately. This one seems to be the sloppiest in terms of its psychology, with things that are told in flashbacks in a shoehorned and clumsy way. Relationships between characters are established or changed too quickly and feel unearned. At first I was intrigued because supernaturality seemed unusual for this author, but by the end I felt empty and disappointed, given how much I'd enjoyed Blood on the Tracks and Welcome back, Alice. I guess there are themes about religious/cultic zealotry and how religious delusion can push troubled people to the extreme. There's also some rather shallow exploration into how people with atypical life experience cope with their lives, but I think Interviews with Monster Girls does a much better and more wholesome job than Happiness.

zatch bell if you didnt know, the publisher has publishing rights, but the actual physical drawing is property of the artist, so in typical fashion when the artist asked for his drawings back after finishing the series, most drawings were ripped coffee stained and lost. they had the audacity to tell him, if we ever need to revisit any art we will make you redraw it. So he sued the publisher and won, now he owns 100% of zatch bell. Since the publisher has no shares anymore they scrapped zatch bell from everything, games toys posters, they pretend it doesnt exist. The author started a publishing company and prints zatch bell volumes himself in japan, and recently even made a sequel with all grown up characters zatch bell 2. First time i voted with my money and supported the artist, being indie is hard so far the first 2 volumes of zatch bell 2 have sold 400.000 copies, volume 3 just came out.

I’m glad you mentioned this because I felt genuinely sad that I wasn’t enjoying manga as much and felt kind of burnt out but at the same time felt silly for feeling that way 😂

Grand Blue is the funniest manga I’ve ever read. It’s not about the story really but the art and jokes are top tier fs. Comedy manga are hard to rank in an overall list but I could see it being top 10 worthy since its the best comedy manga imo
