great tips! Just to add, sometimes exploding heavyweight groups and components in your scene which themselves have lots of groups and components can help. You can still keep them in an individual group or component, you don't necessarily care about the hierarchy and you can even make them components first, save out an original in case you need it, then recursively explode them and be left with something with less weight and detail, and still have replicable fidelity if you need it - again following the instructions to purge after.

I appreciate the video and how easy you make it look. I am just learning sketchup. I am using sketchup go on my ipad. I have done everything 100 times exactly the way youve done it but when I select the grout, color it and then try to make unique texture nothing happens. It seems that I should be able to make this texture even on the ipad version or am I wrong? trying not to get frustrated. Any Idea why it's not working for me?

This works great for a top down view where the vertical axis doesn't change. But how do I rotate a side view so that It changes from portrait to landscape view. For example if I have a table leg and instead of portrait view I want to see it in landscape view. It seems the orbit axis never changes when you change the axis. The Z axis is always the Z axis no matter what color it is when using the orbit tool.
@SketchUpforInteriorDesigners8 ай бұрын
You can use the Camera Views for that. View > Standard Views > Front, Back, Left, Right. They align with the axes as well.

It may just be because this is the most user-hostile UI tool ever created in the history of drawing programs, but it doesn't seem to actually work. While it does turn the drawing 90 degrees...that's all it does, the same 90 degrees and only those 90 degrees. It doesn't matter where I position the confusing axes lines, it's always the same rotation. Want to rotate 180 degrees, though you get 90 degrees CCW. Want it 90 CW, tough you get 90 CCW.

New to SketchUp. Considering an iPad for field notes. You do a good job of simplifying and I think I'm going to make the investment.
