holy smokes, this game has it all: watching a truck explode, standing in a truck while it explodes, walking out of an unexploded truck, exploding another truck whilst in your exploding truck, shooting at an alien while in your exploding truck, raising a truck off the ground and then shooting a vent under it, and not to mention all that hot minecart action!

This is the first time I’ve given this trailer a real genuine walk and I can totally fucking smell the fact that they have just seen half life. This place is very much like something out of half life, even down to the whole. Let’s raise up a truck on hydraulic jack as part of an obstacle, this kind of screams valves game design.

The "facial animation" on display is impressive for Quake 2, even if it just looks like changing out face textures. I'm glad that we have the 2001 leak, but getting all of the low down on DNFs development history would be fantastic for video game preservation.

I like aspects of it, but the 2001 trailer’s more cartoony visuals have aged a lot better… This feels like Unreal with a weird, dated attempt at photorealism that draws attention to the sparseness of the environments. But I’d still like to have seen this far more than the clusterfuck we got. George Broussard never should have been project lead on anything this big; he should have stuck to publishing and supervising quick turnaround indie titles, because that’s what he did with shareware and he had a knack for it.

Seems it went with Phish for the music riff this time around (opening from Simple) instead of Pink Floyd as in the original LLamaTron. Obvious enough with the "Simples" thing on some of levels. Does it also do the easter egg thing like LLamatron with the high score name entries?
