It's so hard to beat a classic aluminum canoe, I love my old Michi-craft and I have my eye on another! Pool noodles are also great for thwarts and gunnels and they are dirt cheap at the end of summer.

I used a yoga mat on the canoe sole and it worked good . A plastic milk crate and Engle cooler

I always find this behavior fascinating to watch. They can stop on a dime and their ground speed is zero but their airspeed matches the wind exactly. The wind has to be sufficiently strong for them to do it. Many little adjustments of tail and wings are made quickly as if computer controlled. Awesome flight skills! Thanks for sharing.

If you’re trying to put this together and having issues, it’s not you. There’s a geometric flaw in the design that’s not mentioned in the video. Since all pieces are made from the same 10” wide board, if the sides of the box are installed on the face of the backplate, then the front door would have to be narrower than 10”. Cut 3/4” off each side of the door. These cuts aren’t shown in the video. Also, the floor of the box will need to be shortened by 3/4” in order for the door to close fully. The design drawing that this is built from also doesn’t mention these additional cuts. With those additional steps, everything goes together correctly.

Hello, I’m in the process of making an owl box according to your video. I am not a Carpenter in anyway whatsoever. I am finding problems when attaching the front. It seems like it should be cut smaller to fit between the sides. Am I missing anything here?

I have a quick question. How far from the bottom is the center of the entrance hole? Is it 9 inches from the bottom as seen in the schematic picture? I only ask because in the picture it shows 9 from the bottom and 3 from the top but that only equals 12. But the front piece is 15.5.

Incredible photos

We saw grasshopper sparrows in Katama on the island. There’s a huge field similar to the one at Crane. It’s one of our favorite places to go. It’s a great mix of birds because it’s just yards from the ocean. It used to be called The Farm Institute but it changed hands and is now known as Katama Farm. Have you ever been there?

Nice job. An elderly friend gave us a 13.5’ Grumman. Excellent shape, just needs cleaned. It was stored under his camp for years. We love it!

Hi Mike, Great Video. I am restoring our 1952 13 foot grumman. It's not in as nice of shape yours, It's broken a lot of ice when duck hunting. LOL . I'm going to paint it in a camo pattern. Thanks. Getting ready to start similar work on a 17' Grumman Eagle. Wondering if the thwarts will come off easily. Thinking about using pool noodles rather than pipe insulation. Slip on over the thwart so no tape is needed. Should add buoyancy too. What do you think?

Hey loved it building it next week end

I love this subject. I spent 20 years allowing and nurturing natural plants on a small property in Ohio. My yard is alive. While others sprayed and worked for green grass I worked to allow life to thrive and was rewarded many times over. One thing I did every year was allow a large area of Dandelion to flower and go to seed....the Finches loved it.

I set out a line of Bluebird boxs and Tree Swallow among others and find the flight and activity of the Tree Swallow very pleasing to the eye and heart. You experienced a very cool sight I am sure.
