How tall are you and does it fit you? I am 191cm (6'2-6'3), I have read about it being good for tall bikers but I don't have a dealership near me and want to know if it may fit.

I love the “Africa Grin”! I also had a go at the Grand Challenge, using a written off Innova, but I paid far too much (£700+) for the bike from a ‘salvage company’ so soon went over the grand for cost… the bodywork was pretty well smashed up, as were the front forks, so I stripped it all off, cleaned and painted the rusty bits of the frame and put decent motorcycle forks on it (CB125F). With home made rear-set footrests and rear brake & gear-change to suit; 18” front wheel and trials tyres, ‘hauling loops’ front and rear, plus all LED lighting it’s more a green lane bike than pizza-delivery machine now, though I’d rather have hand-clutch control! But you’re much more adventurous than me. Mine goes for small-road adventures in Wales. Les

Your bike sounds great and yes, it's probably best I don't add up everything I've spent on Africa Grin either! Only a couple of sections of this day were tricky (especially that water crossing!) and the rest was all quite nice fairly gentle lanes that I really enjoyed. That's the type of lanes that I want to stick to on this bike. I do quite fancy a more offroad focused bike now though for the more difficult ones 🤦‍♂️

Hi ! We at Cocovolt want you to know we have launched a totally new way of renting scooters on Koh Samui. Have you noticed the internet is filled with videos instructing how to rent, how not to get scammed and what things to look out for. When you need a lengthly instruction video simply to survive this process, it is not ok. We decided to change this and designed a scooter service which is quick and easy to use, you don't have to worry about scams or language issues. Renting a vehicle need to be safe, quick, smooth, convenient and flexible. This is what we created, and much more. Not only is the service super convenient, the scooters are ELECTRIC ! this means they are noiseless and cause no pollution, so you'll be moving forward without leaving anything behind but a legacy worth passign on. If you travel from far, you will easily be spending 10 USD/ hour on your stay on Samui simply calculating in the flights and hotel cost. Your time is precious and you don't want to spend hours sweating in a rental shop waiting for your turn to fill up paperwork and procedures when picking up and returning the bike while you could be already exploring the island. We want to save your time so you can spend it gathering experiences and good memories on your stay. Cocovolt is not your ordinary scooter rental shop. It's a complete service. Here's how it works 1. Install our Cocovolt app for Android/iOS from apple appstore, Google Play or from Amazon appstore. 2. Select and pay on the app a subscription ranging from 1 hour to weeks length 3. Choose one of our 10 HopPoints on the island to pickup your scooter from 4. You get a lockbox code and a bike id from our customer service (service is available currently daily from 9 to 21 and soon 24/7) 5. Find the bike at the HopPoint of your selection and get the keys from the lockbox attached to the scooter. Every bike is equipped with a helmet and a self-service charger and covered by CTPL insurance 6. While you drive around the island, you may need assistance in any matter - our customer service is just one click away using our app's chat feature which connect you directly to a person. No matter what you need, tips, directions etc, we will do our best to help you. Our team is local and is there to help you with many topics. 7. Our scooter run for 40-60 km on one charge depending on the terrain and your driving style. If you take longer trips, you will need more power. As all we do, we wanted to make this as easy as possible so you have plenty of alternatives how to handle this: A. Use the self service charger to recharge at your accommodation (pay only for the energy to your landlord or hotel) B. Get in touch with our customer service to find the nearest available scooter and drive to the hoppoint to switch the bike with a full battery (no extra charge) C. Use our app to order a new battery delivered to anywhere you are (Premium service with a small addon fee) 8. When you are done, just drop off the scooter at any of our HopPoints. If you don't feel like visiting a HopPoint, you can use our flexidelivery/return service for a small fee and we will deliver the scooter to anywhere on the island and when you're done, just leave it where it's most convenient for you and we'll take care of it. No need to gas-up when you're done. A normal gasoline powered 125cc scooter uses about 50 THB worth gasoline / distance of 60 km. With Cocovolt, if you - Recharge by switching scooters on our hoppoints you save 100% on the fuel cost. (it's free) - Recharge by using the self-service charger, you save 75% on fuel cost. - use our premium service where our team member travels to you to switch your battery, where ever you are, you'll be paying a little bit more, but hey..you're sipping a latte enjoying the view while we switch the battery ;D With us you are not committing to one bike for the duration of your stay, but you get access to our whole fleet ! So you see, we go the extra mile so you could enjoy your electric adventure to the fullest ! - fast the rental process - use your own language (8 to choose from ! English, Thai, German, French, Russian and Chinese and even Finnish and Estonian) - reliable online payments based on platform used by even the big-tech companies - no deposits - minimum 1 hour rent (e.g. pickup from Nathon, drive to Chaweng and drop it off there) - Complete freedom (pickup from one point, drop off at another or use our flexi delivery/return service and get the scooter anywhere/drop off anywhere) - Save money on gasoline cost - Enjoy our premium services for some luxury - Easy to handle, fun to look at and fun to drive bikes - Drive in silence and with no pollution (Every 125cc scooter driven with gasoline causes pollution per year worth the weight of an elephant) - Drive with peace of mind, drive in harmony with the nature, drive on good Karma ! - Video instructions on how to use the bike - Video instructions on how to drive on Koh Samui - Videos on culture - Points of interests on the map We welcome you to join the ranks of our happy customers and welcome you to Koh Samui, you're Cocovolt scooter is waiting for you here.

Looks great, what's the legal status with rushing in these routes? (Fellow Innova owner)
@RichRides
@RichRides 26 күн бұрын
I'm very careful to only ride legal routes. BOATS (Byways Open To All Traffic) are legally unsurfaced roads and often have a counter intuitive "Unsuitable for motor vehicles" sign at the start. The ones on this video are part of the Trans Northern Trail and best to find the Facebook group which includes the route itself which is updated if any sections are closed.

I was spending too much on taxi and met people that said I should do a scooter. I was excited to try and feeling good. But the scooter guy made me really nervous and loss my confidence after finding out I never rode before and said maybe its too hard and scary for me 🥴.

@RichRides 7 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear that but I think that if you can confidently ride a bicycle then with a little training you can ride a 50cc scooter. Maybe try a different hire place that will give you some training first.

@@RichRides Thanks, I ended up waking up super early the next day before there were any other people on the road to practice by myself and found a long stretch and loved the feeling of freedom! For me it depends on how busy the roads are in the area i'm staying. Some parts of Koh Samui was great for me to scooter, more country roads with less traffic, even Koh Phagnan I felt pretty comfortable. But when I was in Lamai I got very intimidated by the traffic and larger roads so I only went to very nearby places.

Rich hi i also have a new xr150 so im glad i found your video. Do those clamps hook on to one or both of the bars? It looks like just one. Mine only fit one bar each really. I didnt try it yet but maybe once it's clamped down it will be tight enough. I have 4 clamps. I think have also seen a steel plate used on the bottom with 4 holes so you make like a sandwich and the plate is the bottom piece of bread. Not sure if i can buy that somewhere or need to make my own.
@RichRides
@RichRides Ай бұрын
Yes, on this one the front 2 clips were only on 1 bar because of the spacing of them, and the rear one managed to cover 2. Even just covering 1 bar then because of the shape and the number of clips it is totally solid though.

Yes, just remove the box and unbolt the carrier from the rack and fit to the rack on the new bike. If you have more than 1 bike then if you use the same make/carrier you can move boxes between bikes. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of bikes and a few different size boxes (all Givi Monolock) and can just fit any box on any bike 👍

Long days, camping, on tarmac and dirt/gravel, this bike always does what I ask of it without fail. Comfort for a 600 mile day came as a surprise, but should not have.

It comes on after the miles they recommend between oil changes so in theory you don't need to change it until the light comes on. Personally, I change oil in my bikes more frequently anyway as I figure that oil is cheaper than new engines so I'd rather be more cautious...

I'm picking one of these up in a few days. Really enjoyed the test drive last week and it ticks the boxes I want for my next vehicle. This video was very useful in terms of getting me set up with some more information. One query - how does the EV mode benefit at higher speeds, particularly when cruising around 60mph say? Will the Ioniq switch fully into EV mode, or at that sort of speed is it more just for a bit of background assistance, maybe running the heater, radio, that sort of thing?
