ZONE 5B???? WOW!!! This is truly impressive!!! I saw the sweet potato harvest 1st and I was just blown away!!! I'm in TX Zone 8B and your sweet potato harvest rivals anything I've seen grown here! I had to subscribe to see your garden progress and methods so I can get some tips. I do container gardening on my apt patio and I'm always looking for tips and tricks for containers - been gardening for almost 20yrs and I'm still learning! Thanks for sharing! ❤🌿 Edited to add: The BBQ planter is PURE GENIUS!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 If I had a house with a yard I'd be doing something similar! I'm loving your gardening ideas! Keep 'em coming!!!

Thank you very much my friend from Texas , up until this year we were classified as zone 5b but they changed us to 6a this year due to reclassification of all gardening zones throughout the US . I did container gardening for many years when I lived in our apartment and it worked out great the trick is to plant container specific varieties of vegetables like dwarf tomatoes in a 5 gallon bucket they did extremely well or cherry tomatoes etc , I just uploaded a video of our Sarpo Mira container potatoes last week you should check out that video I'm sure you will be impressed with how large they have grown we are lol I hope our video's inspire you to try many different vegetables and fruits in containers like carrots , beets , mustard greens collard greens cabbage strawberries all do well in containers thanks for watching and commenting 👍

@@citylotgardening6171 I will certainly do some binge watching this evening - I've pretty much grown everything you've suggested, but it's the quantity I'm trying to improve rather than quality. Getting the timing right with seed starting is something I need to work on - especially my sweet potato slips. I started my slips in March and I have slips growing like crazy and one is even flowering, so I'm planting them as quick as possible...

I was so disappointed that our northland plant that came in those little boxes from TSC in 2022 died a few weeks ago, it started to come out of dormancy & I think some kind of blight took it out. I have the same problem with the duke variety, I've lost 3 of those so far LOL. We have a blue ray from 2020 that is huge & producing a lot of berries. The Elliott and hardiblue plants we bought last year from Lowe's were a nice size when we got them for $12.98 each. Now they've almost caught up to the blue ray in size & amount of berries after growing so fast in 2023. It's about time I started covering them all up with mesh, or the dozens of birds that come into my garden will have a field day.

We bought ours from Indiana Berry a plant nursery in Northern Indiana we actually went there and picked out our plants they have a website and offer a free catalog if your interested , I stopped covering ours because the little birds were getting inside the netting and I would have to uncover the plants to let the birds out lol now I just pick them daily when they are getting ripe early in the morning and so far so good 👍

Your blueberries look amazing. I’m new with blueberries. Having trouble with them because of the amount of rain we have. I had the sulfur pellets but they don’t break down easily. I just got a better fertilizer for them specifically for blueberries and the color is starting to come back in the leaves. They have a few tiny berries but not much yet. My other blueberry is nice and green but not producing yet. I’m tempted to put them in the ground.

Adding the sulpher helps lower your ph of your soil which blueberries like and blueberry fertilizers usually have some sulpher in them , I would check your ph in the soil around the ones that aren't looking the best it may be a bit high they like 5.0 to 5.5 it's taken me a couple of years adding sulpher and blueberry fertilizer to get them looking like this we struggled in the beginning getting the ph down in the soil thanks for watching 👍

@@citylotgardening6171 I made friends with a bunny too during the bad drought last year. Everything was bleached and dead and even my southern peas weren`t producing so I talked to her and let her eat from my garden. She trusts me now. It took a long time to get her to trust me though where I could walk up close to her or her to me which she seemed to enjoy by startling me. She`d hop up beside me and make raccoon noises and scare me. I didn`t know rabbits could make weird noises like that. I used to babysit over 100 show rabbits and never heard these sounds. Native Americans say this region of Louisiana is cursed. I`ve seen some paranormal things here you wouldn`t believe. So I wonder about my animal friends but I truly care about them. I love them. UFOs and their operators gave me a soul upgrade a few times beginning in 1986 and again in 1999. You need to be prepared for a collapse of agriculture. Please tell others.

Blueberries are my next plan. I planted 16 more fruit trees this year for the birds & myself and the future people, hopefully....figs, dwarf mulberry and two pineapple guava....on the zones 8b/9a line in Louisiana. We`ve had a neverending battle with mean old Mother Nature here for the past several years....hurricanes, other extreme weather events with tornadoes and high winds/hail, extreme freezes, unusual cold, unusual heat and drought....everything but frozen turkeys falling from the sky but I`m prepared if it happens!

Looks good. I have several buckets of potatoes but I don’t buy any potato seeds, I just use the ones sprouting in my kitchen from the grocery store so I’m not looking for a large production of potatoes. I planted them 3 months ago because I subscribe to the philosophy to keep something growing in the soil. I’ve harvested one bucket and I got several small potatoes. It was the only one that had died off. I see that I have one that’s starting to die off as well while the rest look decent. But as soon as I harvest them, I’m sticking peppers and tomatoes into them. But anyway, I look forward to seeing your harvest.

Some grocery store potatoes grow quite well I do better with the organic grocery store potatoes because they don't spray the organic ones to stop them from eying out . These Sarpo Miras are mostly grown in containers and yield well we pressure canned our potatoes every year for long term storage so we grow alot of them we like the Yukon Gold the best they sell those at rural king in early spring and the seed potatoes are cheaper then the grocery store potatoes but we save our own every year for next year's seed potatoes hope all goes well for you this year thanks for watching 👍

Your Sarpo Mira potatoes are looking good! They have gotten big. They are a popular potato. I think we are going to use your string method to hold up the stolons. We have one 20 gallon container of red potatoes that are getting tall and are starting to flower a lot. We got the containers for free so we thought we would try them. We get these tiny black bugs that crawl on the leaves, smaller than flea beetles and they’re not aphids. Don’t know what they are. I have been checking it everyday. We also have four containers of sweet potatoes. I bought some Vardaman slips because they are good for container growing here in Florida. Just learning about all this, it is our first year of vegetable gardening. My husband started some slips with a store bought organic sweet potato. Just layed the potato on its side covered at the surface in the dirt of the container ,kept it wet, and it produced slips! We did that outside the first week in April here. That’s when we planted our red potatoes too. We didn’t plant the Sweet Potatoes until the end of April. The vines from his slips have grown much bigger than the Vardaman! I think they must be Beauregard. The Vardaman sweet potato vines are just getting going! The sweet potatoes got some of those bugs too. And the Red potatoes had something cutting down the stolons one by one at the soil level! I looked it up and it must have been a cutworm. We sprayed with Neem oil and it hasn’t happened again. I saw your sweet potato planting video. It’s something how many potato leaves cover the side of your house by harvest time. Your last haul was amazing! I hope we get some potatoes this year! Take care. 😊☀️🌱

I have a video titled Rain Water Collection For The Garden In A IBC Tank June 2022 it shows the tank installed and hooked up to our downspout with a downspout diverter and a ball valve on the bottom of the tank to hook up a hose pipe and it works great . I have one food grade 275 IBC tank and 4 , 55 gallon barrells for rain , I got the food grade barrells and the food grade IBC tank on our local Craigslist in the farming and gardening section at a great price and savings . Check your local Craigslist in the farming and gardening section because one brand new 55 gallon rain barrell from our local hardware store was more expensive then the food grade 275 gallon IBC tote .. I took the elbow piece off of my downspout at the bottom and put a 5 gallon bucket under the downspout and use a submersible water pump with a hose pipe hooked to it so when it rains I drop the pump inside the bucket and turn on the pump and it fills up the rain barrells and the IBC tote , they are a great investment thanks for watching 👍

I've grown Allstar for many years they are a heavy producer after the crowns are well established the berries have a great flavor and are medium to large in size the one tip I can give you is space your plants at least 1 foot apart because they produce so many runners and they can easily take over your bed so plant spacing is very important also no matter which variety you choose you will have to change out your mother plants every 4 to 5 years because when they get that old they stop producing berries and only produce runners I have video's on my channel on how I plant the runner plants and sell them to make you a little extra money it's very easy and profitable check it out if your interested and thanks for watching friend 👍
