Are there specific places where you can raise honey bees? Is it illegal in cities ? I would love to raise them but my neighbors might not be too happy

Hi Angela! Thanks for reaching out. The first place to start is with your local city ordinances if you reside within city limits. These will specify the legality for beekeeping. It’s good to contact and/or join your local beekeeping club as these folks can be very knowledgeable. Once I figured out legality, I checked with my neighbors that border my property to let them know my intentions and to see if they had any objections. Great questions!

The Andersons , that invented the flow frames recommended puffing smoke on your hands to avoid stings,I find it works great.

Bottom entrance, top entrance, solid bottom boards all around... some painted white and unknown finish on most... give context! I myself am using standard white, heavy wax application (inside and out) as well as burnt char on my boxes to make them identifiable for the bees. Failures teach more than success and many have much to learn.
