Hi Luke i saw your videos on the Richmans Toys Batmobile, back in 1990-91 i swear i saw that Cox rc produced a Batmobile, this thing was huge, almost 3 feet long, the box was different to the Richmans package too, do you have any old catalogues from that period to confirm this? Or am i just remembering differently 🤔

That's a nice-looking Mustang! You know, I never really focused on the non-hobby grade stuff except for the Nikko Rhino. Watching your videos has introduced me to an expanded world of rc that was not on my radar. Thank you for that Luke! Also, if you don't mind me asking, is there a way that I can contact you? I'm doing some vintage rc research and could really benefit from your expertise. Thanks again!

Was 100% a Grasshopper/hornet knock off , back in 86, it was my first decent rc kit, I was 11 , me and my mom went to our local hobby shop "Wilson Hobby" on Jamaica Ave in Woodhaven Queens NY ,I was a regular there for many years, that store was there since I think the late 50-60? Pretty much forever, Pete knew everyone and everyone knew Pete! He had inherited the store from his dad, I was still buying rc card there up until around 10 years ago. It was a staple in the old neighborhood! The kinda place where little kids dreams came true and parents went broke! 😅 I remember paying $65 for my Rockbuster and buying a new chassis almost every day! Would always break those shock towers, then Mr Pete of Wilson's found me a metal shock tower hop up! And it was fixed! Not to mention, oil filled front shocks! Hell Yeah! Then my friend Billy, one of the older kids, gave me a Grasshopper, and I combined the 2, geez, my father thought I was some type of Genius, building those remote control cars. It would be great if you could find that metal front chassis fix? But after that was my Frog, Black Foot, RC10 , Then gave up on it for many years only to get back into it around the early 90s, since I was a diehard Tamiya guy, next came my TA02 Special Chassis kit, and TA03 Fully customized, had a ridiculous amount of money into that car and I didn't even own a real car at the time! And I discovered Tower Hobbies! And bought so many others! RC10L , Bolink POS'S! You name it! And after that I swore it was over! But come around 10 years back , I bought a Pep boys traxxas Stampede, then it broke at Astoria skate park, and a few years later, my Brushless 2wd Slash which is to fast for its own good! She's consumed my Stampede for just about everything that is interchangeable, and she's still rolling, and very fast! And it's not over! Just yesterday, my amazing and highly recommended "Legendary Thunder" $114 shipped to my house in Long Island! How can you go wrong! I love this budget basher , around 45mph right out of the box! Pretty good quality, 4WD, great tires Brushless and cheap as fk price! What a deal! Something I've never said about anything RC! Anyhow, buy one! You won't be disappointed! Sorry for talking your ear off, but it's so nice to see my old friend the "ROCKBUSTER" Thank You for the #memories

Oh my!! Luke!!! I had one of these...In Australia!!! My 2nd RC car right before I got a Hornet. Early 85. Completely forgot about it. The version I had didn't have the Pepsi decals but I do remember it having a 2 speed transmission... big switch was underneath between low and high. Think it topped out at around 20kph (12.4 mph) in high gear (In my memory it was fast but I'm probably very wrong)... As well as draining batteries (Expensive back then) in under 10 minutes, I remember the steering "servo" being way too slow to control it at that huge (lol) speed... That's amazing..NIB... After all those years...
@LukesVintageRC
@LukesVintageRC 8 күн бұрын
@@steveblackbird Hi Steve, I’m not sure about a two speed on this chassis as the gear box is a traditional three gear. Pinion, spur, and diff. It must of been a smaller variant. The Ferrari I did I open and restore so you can get a better view. Happy Summer

Ooo, that’s a Sector 7 chassis. Stock with a NiMh battery it would hit 24mph. It eats tires though and as the tread wore down, the car became progressively less drivable.
@LukesVintageRC
@LukesVintageRC 9 күн бұрын
@@MustangsCanTurnToo hi there, so these will do around 117-19mph stock. I’ll post another video in a future episode of a top speed and drag race with gps with stock for short. Remember radio shack states on box 1700ft per minute. That’s 19mph. Everything looks faster than what is shown. For example a Tamiya Hornet tops out 18mph on smooth surfaces. Nikko f10 15mph. The motor and weight is the S7 issue. The motor is a standard 27turn rs 540 mabuchi . RPM is 13,500. Sorry bud, everything I’ve done took a lot to get this rc to do 29mph. Remember Team associated rc10 with their race motor would only do 24 mph. Tires can be an issue I’m sure. As shown it’s easy to replace. Thank you and take care.

Love the restoration Luke as always. I remember these from back in the day. A school friend had one but unfortunately it was one rather fragile buggy. Poor thing was always broken.. didn't help that he sent the thing off everything lol. Never thought much of them, but now in 2024 I like them. I agree Tamiya should re-re this kit. This ran pretty great, recently found a Traxxas 1:16 vxl ken block in the e-waste container at the recycling facility here which works fine but needs some minor work on it imo. Shocks are very soft so might have to swap in harder springs, if not shock oil too as well as a rear right c-hub being a bit wobbly, cranked down the pre-load atm so it doesnt bottom out just accelerating or braking. Chassis of this reminds me of the new bright 1:6th scale slr mclaren.
