Maybe a little misting away from the nest might keep the plant going.
@GetbusygardeningАй бұрын
Yes, I've been doing that, and also taking cuttings. :-)

Water it when the adults are away from the nest for a little while. The plant needs to have good foliage to hold the nest and provide good cover.

Wow, Amy! I can't believe I've only just found your KZfaq channel. 😊 I've been a subscriber to your emails for several years now, and I only noticed that you've got a KZfaq channel from reading today's email. (It's Friday, 5th June 2024, and it was an email speaking about Plant Propagation ... which I've not long ago finished reading and taking notes from. 😉) You can bet, ma'am, that I've subscribed and requested to be notified every time you upload a video. 😉 From the content of your emails, I can say that I've garnered a load of valuable and practical information from your good self. I can hardly wait to start getting into the videos you've uploaded. 😉 Long may you reign, ma'am. ♥♥

I tried this after looking at MANY videos! It does trap fruit flies. Later I tried one with water and soap added to balsamic but it wasn't as effective. Thank you!

Make sure you put enough vodka to kill them, otherwise they will get FUY (flying under the influence).

Hi Amy, thanks for posting this. It's the perfect inspiration of rmy similar sized garden and informative as far as layout and spacing. I wish it was more in focus as it looks so beautiful with the colours and textures and a shame to not get a crisp picture . Well done on the hard work and thought going into your garden!

I have a shed where I keep trash bins till it's time for pick up. Keeps them out of sight. Fruit flies collect in the shed. I don't want to spray it like I normally do, because baby birds are nesting in the roof of the shed. I looked around on youtube for several trap designs. I made 4 different traps. This one was the least effective, trapping 0%. Traps using apple cider vinegar with a little dish soap worked the best. They were hideously full the next morning. The best one was the 2 liter plastic bottle. Cut the top off, push the top down inside, fill with apple cider vinegar and dishsoap. It's amazing, quite astonishing how many were in there. Save your balsamic vinegar for cooking ;)

You think you kill the flies but they actually got drunk.
