Is your timing supposed to move even when the vac advance is disconnected ? Example, when I set it on 20degrees warm and idling and advance hose disconnect. Timing mark will move from 20-25 and beyond. Is this normal?

Be careful not to cross thread the fuel lines, I unfortunately wasn't paying attention and did just that. What happened in my case was I shattered the aluminum housing, so I've been running my 1988 Chevy Cheyenne Cheyenne 4.3 with a proper temp material liquid weld, which I only had to tune up once. Just throwing that out there because, it's very difficult to source that particular part.

LOVE IT! If I had this car Id shave and put on glasses and a curly "blue" haired wig and long dress and a couple bags of grocieries in the back to complete the look and effect.

Two improvements that can be made [easily] to that Chevette's brakes: The '80-up rear drums, and the '83-up front calipers. You'll need the corresponding steering knuckles/spindles to mount the front calipers, but once you have, you open the door to the front-brake aftermarket made available for the '84-'87 Fiero... which has models of brakes that a 'tuner would drool over!😉

Oh, they do handle well... well enough to be entered into Group-4 rally, and win! Why? 51/49 weight balance--better than a front-engined Porsche!😉

I’ve wanted to find a decent pre-80 Chevette 2-door like this one for years. We had a couple when I was growing up and they were cheap, but simple, transportation and I always liked the look. It’s be fun to put a modern power train in one and just daily it.

In the 80s worked on those at a dealer , I saw a lot of them die from the crank bolt shearing off and then the lower pulley and timing gear out runs the car while the valves stop the pistons .

Hello there! We had Chevettes in Brazil too. It was actually the car that I learned how to drive on. Here they started with 1.4 liter motors and only got the 1.6 later. The last Chevette here was produced in 1993!
