@@piano.is.a.language It is ridiculous that someone doesn't even know how to count the beatings properly but claim herself to be able to play grade 5 pieces. I think if you have this attitude to learn your piano, you will just be at grade 1 after 100 years then.

This is how I (re)learned note names: 1. I was very bored not being able to play piano and with nothing better to do (very important step). 2. I don't have a printer and I forgot to print these 2 pages of music of a piece I'm learning, so I decided to write it down by hand; 3. I read out loud note names (minim, crochet, quavers etc.) every time I write a note down. If you can skip the part where you hurt your wrists and can't play piano, that's better 💀😇

I finished this book in May 2024, but only recorded this piece on the 27th of June and only posting it now because I had other videos 🤷‍♀. I chose this one because it sounds reasonably pretty. I find that these excerpts are not always great to listen to. 😂 This collection was initially easier than the ABRSM specimen, but this Grade 8 book was significantly harder than the ABRSM specimens of the same grade, in my opinion.

I wouldn't stand by that. Depends what the pain is like. If it's an ache in the lower wrist or forearm after playing something technically challenging, then that's normal. But if it feels like something similar to an inflammation, or injury-like pain then that's somewhere where you really should refrain from doing more of whatever is hurting you. The normal ache you get after doing something like playing fast chromatic scales for a long time in one go (depends how much practice you have already done to define how long exactly). But as mentioned in this video, it was derived from big chords and an incorrect technique for staccato, and the result was a burning in the right wrist, which to me doesn't sound like an ache, I would definitely avoid using your right hand for a while. I went through the same thing I think, and I kept pushing but it only got worse. It took me about 3 weeks to recover. If you have the same thing as me, which you can't be sure, definitely rest that hand. The left hand may just hurt thanks to tension on your wrist from your watch. I don't personally recommend wearing jewellery or watches while playing for that reason. Even long sleeves can slow you down. Maybe that will help, since I think it's a low chance that both your wrists are hurting due to the same reason at almost the exact same time.

@@FriskaPiano Thank you very much for sharing, Friska! Mmmh both hands were playing octaves, but the right hand had big chords too, so more challenging than octaves, and I practiced the right hand more than the left. Yeah I think in my case I just need to rest, I’ve seen lots of improvements already. I do believe playing piano should never hurt.

Thank you! How do you practice reading intervals? I don’t really do that
@benarr8689
@benarr8689 Ай бұрын
@@piano.is.a.language If one note on the sheet is in the line and the other one is between the lines then its always going to be an even interval: seconds, fourth, sixths... If both notes are in the lines or between the lines then its always going to be an unequal interval: thirds, fifths, sevenths... Thats the first thing you should know to read intervals the second is to know blindly the distance of these intervals, so your fingers can play an seventh for an example without looking at them. By knowing this you can slowly start to read intervals, its a lot faster when your fingers automatically knows the distance it needs to play instead of reading the notes. Might take a while at first but by practicing to just read these intervals it should get faster and faster, bach chorales are a good source to practice reading intervals, though they arent easy to sight read.

Nice. My teacher gave me this etude too and I hated it then. It's now a year later and I'm thinking about returning to op. 299. Might've been a mistake, but this is op. 299 no. 7, not 8. One thing to look out for is that after the climbing dominant chord inversions, the at the beginning of the scale run, there's a tie on the F, so you only play it once, not twice.
