I grew up poor like super poor. Had to do what I had to in order to feed myself and my grams and I did what Katie did only I was 14. Allot of creepy guys love underage guys. Anyway seeing Katie portrayed in such a human way helps me feel less repulsed by what I had to do. Helps heal I guess.

its an excellent film. I found myself intrigued by the most unexplored character of the three. Jon Bridell gave a complete, nuanced and understated performance as John, the father. This is not a bad man. This is a desperate father, who wants to see his son happy and healthy after years of trauma bullying and depression, but can only envision that happiness coming from conformity and an acceptance of social and religious conventions. Its homosexuality that is the problem, not a society/church that demands heterosexuality. Sean is about to provide lesson 1 in a steep learning curve in that car. In a year maybe two, I think John is going to be 'ok' with pumpkin muffins. He's never going to like them, but he'll be fine if they sit next to the blueberry muffins.

i first saw this when i was 17 y/o repressed religious kid and now im a bi 24 y/o watching it for the first time since. when i first watched this, i thought being queer was a sin, but watching this film, esp the part where he says he would change if he could, was rlly humanizing. it made me realize ppl are born gay and aren't "choosing that lifestyle" bc no one would choose all that hardship and judgment if they could so easily opt out. this film was a turning point for me, it made me empathize with the realness of his struggle, and i became comfortable with the idea of gay guys, but not gay girls yet bc it hit too close to home (although casey and izzie's relationship from atypical changed that), so i still had a lot of internal work to do over the next years. but eventually i came to terms with that too. im forever grateful to this film for softening my heart first towards other lgbtq+ ppl, and then eventually to myself.

Renowned characters that people judge and discriminate against. It was so wonderful to see them bond. I really loved what Katie wrote in the note, so heartwarming. The best line for me was " It must be exhausting trying to fix something that's not broken " I think everyone did an amazing job , thank you for your this exposure.

Society looks down on sex workers, but they really fulfil an important job. They provide a sexual service but are at the same time therapists in their own special way. I'm afraid there are more fathers than I could imagine who think they could get their son 'fixed' by a sex worker. This film is beautiful but tragic. Sad to see that only this sex worker is so understanding and capable of giving almost maternal love to a young gay boy who is still figuring stuff out and who has a deadbeat father.

4 or 5 years ago I was obsessed with LGBT Short Films. I don't know how I've never stumbled across 'Pretty Boy' but now it sure is one of my favorites. I really like the in-depth characters of Sean and Katie, especially Katie. We don't even get to know what is happening in her life and still, she has a more developed personality than the main characters of some big TV shows. I've never would've imagined that a woman would be my favorite character in a gay film but Katie did it.

Wow, as gay - and straight too? I suppose straights have traumas too - it feels like you’re never feed up with stories like this… but not every story is this good casted, written, filmed etc etc. It really touched my heart, brought out some tears and some inspiration to humanity. Loved this. And as many others I want more. Back story, future story etc. But that’s how a brilliant short movie should be, I love what it made me feel and I feel some comfort in thinking about where these characters might be today.
