I want to ride it! The train looks great and shiny in that rain… But still remember a Burlington (now BNSF) route running West from Chicago then up along the Mississippi to the Twin Cities in the 1960s. Maybe it was twice daily - but I was a kid then…

train projects in the US, especially "high speed" trains are boondoggles. Politicians should be in prison for the amount of money wasted. Also I'm surprised you made it out of St. Paul and Chicago unhurt!

This is a journey I would love to make. I have the TRAIN SIMULATOR on P.C. with part of this route, appropriately named THE MARIAS PASS. The section covered is between Whitefish & Shelby. A very popular route for the Train simmers. 🚝🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🚞🙂😍😍

It’s good that they offer this service. But the trains aren’t right for the kind of service a stadler flirt should be used on local services for longer regional and intercity services these trains lack simple features like blinds or curtains to block the sun and many other amenities that trains have had since the 1930‘s.

I lived in the US for 5 years. In Boston. I always travelled to New York and Washington by train. Often Acelo, business class. Yes, the seats are fine, but that is the only positive thing I have to say. And that is the only benefit for your very expensive fare. Trains in the US are slow, unreliable and cost too much money. I never took a train to Chicago, because it took too much time.

us cities are too spread out for rail, which is why we have plains

Wonderful!! As a resident of the Twin Cities i am thrilled to have this new service, and will definitely use it as a replacement for driving to Chicago.

The station in Chicago is reminiscent of the interior of an engine shed. Not entirely the way to entice new passengers!
@jannemec468623 сағат бұрын
Looks decent to me, the space between seats is awesome, wish it was like this on a plane:) Greetings from Czech rep, country with 0 high speed rails, oh well :) Yet seems Talgo will be very soon in Czech hands, so fingers crossed things will start moving here too

Great video, and good to see some improvement in USA. It's still a very long way to go, but evolution is positive. Still needs to find a more sustainable way to haul trains than huge diesel locomotives, otherwise the eco-argument cannot work.

First, quite instructive, Mr Simply, for those of us who've traveled often on trains in Europe, but seldom on trains in the US. Second, congratulations to you & your colleagues for your impressive production values!

25:30 good ole Slidell! Been in those marshes plenty of times! That crossing before you got to the lake was “Car Drive”. Beautiful little stretch, but gets BLASTED by hurricanes. The bridge In between the train trestle and I10 is the highway 11 bridge. During your ride it was under construction, and it just reopened after 3 years of construction lol. But that ride is a fun ride. I once rode on a just for fun trip. Slidell has an Amtrak station, and depending if anyone had tickets they’ll stop.

I guess the reason why they stuck with horizons and not ventures is because venture seats are basically glorified commuter seats unfit for a 7hr journey, whereas horizon seats are almost of amfleet quality being decades old recliners. But maybe Amtrak should have thought it through when they ordered new trains...
