When I tried pouring the paint to make skins they all cracked and I couldn't lift them up. I only added a little water to the paints
@agould105Ай бұрын
I’ve had really good luck with my paint recipe. I have found that when the paints crack, it’s because one layer is drying quicker than another layer. So you might want to cover whatever you have painted on with something like foil so that it doesn’t dry too quickly. If I remember right, I don’t try to peel the paint up at least for a week.
@karenmclaughlan9128Ай бұрын
@agould105 The paint was all cracked and that was after only 48 hours. Couldn't use it as skin
@agould105Ай бұрын
I’m sorry to hear that. I’d try revamping your paint recipe and not letting the puddle dry too quickly.

I have a question... your paint puddles seem a little thick from other videos I've watched. Can the pain be spread out a little more with a spatula for the main dominant puddle?

Sure it can. I need my puddle to be thick. I think doing the skins involves a lot of experimenting.

It does, however, say on the bottle, not to mix it with water 😕 I have a small bottle of it, along with a big bottle of gloss varnish, and that’s what I observed when I read through the instructions on the gloss one before applying it as the finishing touch on the canvas.

Do you sell more jewelry sets with your skins or separate pieces? TIA
@agould1058 ай бұрын
Usually earrings alone sell better. Sometimes I’ll offer a special price on a pendant set rather than simply adding the cost of selling earrings or a pendant individually. For example if the earrings are $15 and then pendant is $10 and a buyer wants both, I have offered $20 for the set.

Hi, thank you for this video. I like how you do full on safety measures, so many don't. I also like the fact you did both front and back instead of just painting the back or leaving it as is. I do not use resin as outside is windy most days and brings sand with it, my garage lets everything in, lol! I do use other safe shiny sealants and they are also safe for my medical furbies since their smell is so sensitive. I do a lot of wire work jewelry and like to make special boxes to gift them in. I also use other items to make jewelry including wood. I like your style and will be looking forward to new items you make. Have a great week.
@agould10510 ай бұрын
Thank you! It’s always best to use every safety procedure possible. UV resin is different from two-part epoxy resin but still you need to use safety measures.

Best to use resin for a smooth glass coat.. There are dimples throughout the tiles from spraying the engine spray. I used to use engine spray to coat my alcohol inked tiles and they had the same dimple effect.
@agould10511 ай бұрын
I’m not a fan of using Epoxy resin. I have health issues and small animals in my house and did not want to jeopardize their safety. Epoxy takes a lot of extra equipment in order to use it safely and I’m not in a situation to do that. I find the engine spray does not leave dimples and it seems fairly safe to use in a well ventilated area.

Anne, I have a designated paint brush for applying my glue/mod podge and then clean it with alcohol. You can disperse the glue evenly to the sides and get a very even coat. I also have a designated brush for my resin and I just store that in aluminum foil. Your videos are concise and to the point and you explain everything thoroughly. Thank you for not having music in the background. I find those videos hard to watch. ❤Rebecca M

How do you mix your paint? And what do you use?
@agould105 Жыл бұрын
To make skins, you can use any paint, any acrylic paint, including apple barrel, and Craftsmart. Not my choice in painting on canvas, but because skins go under cabochon, it doesn’t really matter. I use the same recipe for everything one part paint to two parts, American floetrol, and a little bit of water.
