Silly title for a film.I can't imagine the word shootist ever used in everyday conversation.If he was an expert knife man would he be called The Thrower?
@PopCultureMinefield6 күн бұрын
@@keithharvey6354The author is partially wrong, as "Gunfighter" was also used in as early as the 1870s. But, "shootist" was an actual term used for men who made a living off shooting things. In what you're saying, it would probably be "stabist." 😂👍

The reason much of the Chinese aftermath of the Doolittle raid was shown, was that a lot of money to finance the movie came from China.

Hello first time caller. Loved this tonight Im in tbe UK. Planet of the Apes 1968 was the first movie I got see in a cinema. My mum took me to see it and in '68 if the end was near you could be let in so I saw the "You maniacs" twice. I can smell the cinema now, feel the red seats and boy was I blown away by this. I saw it again on the big screen in 2018 and came full circle, I had the biggest smile of gob throughout, I was young again. The scenes are just so memorable from beginning to end and really cemented my future love of sci-fi, fantasy, horror films etc, a pivotal moment. Thanks mum.❤😊

Oh speaking of John Harrison. I'm convinced WB or someone paid him not to comment on Denis Villeneuve's movie. He had a producer credit on Part 1, though its difficult now to find it outside of the actual credits of the movie. When asked about Part 1 during an interview regarding the Sci-fi Channel Miniseries, he said he was "Tangentially involved in the new one" and the discussion quickly moved back to the miniseries. Part 2 I can't seem to find any such credit,. Also of interest, John Harrison seems to be publishing his fiction via Kevin J Anderson, and wife's publishing house. Which means John Harrison is somewhat linked to Brian Herbert and the Herbert Estate. So wheels, within wheels of Hollywood deal making.

I know this is a months old stream but various stuff keeps me coming back to it. A striking thing about the DUNE Miniseries, the director/writer John Harrison doesn't insert himself into the narrative, akin to how Peter Jackson avoided doing so with LOTRs. There's no unnecessary oddness here. Mainly regarding the Harkonnens, which it seems those artiste like directors can't resist doing. It doesn't try to tell us what the director thinks the book means, rather it lets the narrative and the author's words tell us the story. I'm glad this exists as a contained moment, beyond the grasp of "Current Day" genre storytelling. Though I have the sense certain factions wish to bury it. As a sidenote. BOOM Studios DUNE Comics look a whole lot more like this than they do Denis Villeneuve's movies or the Lynch film.
