**Economic Decline** - Loss of ceramics jobs. **Retail Struggles** - Rise of online shopping and malls. **Urban Decay** - Empty buildings and neglect. **Social Issues** - More crime and economic hardship. **Competition from Nearby Cities** - Manchester and Birmingham are more attractive. Heartbreaking for those who remember how it used to be.

There is so much to visit Stoke for like Trentham gardens, Wedgwood pottery and the beautiful countryside. Every town in the country has bad places I go everywhere and Stoke no different. Manchester and Birmingham has many no go areas to

Hanley used to be a lovely day out Debenhams, Lewis's,Brat and Dykes have coffee catch up with friends for years labour has wasted money shamelessly infact 2023 returned unspent money back to government but who are these council employers no qualifications what so ever Stoke has been on the decline because they have not got a clue and it will go on and on same it's run by who you not what you have to offer to improve it but sadly Stoke will never survive never get back to being an attraction to shoppers or visitors

Hi I’m Kerry Palmer I live in Perth Western Australia. My family moved to Perth in 1980. We moved from longton stoke on Trent. We lived in the old pub called “The Three Tuns “ cnr of Edensor road and Greendock street. My Grandparents John and Joyce Carson ran the old pub throughout the 70s and 80s until they moved over to Perth to us in 1987. I heard that the old pub burnt down. Shame. I don’t remember much as I was only 5 when we moved though I went back for a visit 20 years ago and I could see a few changes to the old building. The guy who owned it then took me for a walk through the whole building and that brought back a few memories. I am wondering if you can comfirm weather it burning down is true. Also wondering if anyone around remembers the pub when my grandparents ran it or remembers my family my mum and dad are David and Lorraine Spruce. I will be honest seeing this post and how bad stoke has become makes me so greatful my family packed up and moved over here in Australia. Thankyou for your posts they are very interesting.

Hi lovely to hear from you especially a ex stokie. I can’t find any information about the three tuns so I can’t help you on that I’m afraid. You and your parents certainly made the right move in moving out it’s a hopeless city now that is beyond help and hope I no longer live in the city now anymore myself it’s a breath of fresh air to be somewhere now that feels safe when walking the streets.

Hanley has more defibrillators than shops, ask the council why that is, what are they expecting? The shops know nothing about them, they wouldve needed street works authority. Scum councils and workers

When i saw this i thought hmmm could be interesting but all we get is another "social blogger" riding round behind a mask on a push bike, slagging everyone and everything off, AND hiding his real name ,,,are you on benefits pal?,,,get the picture folks?,,,,if you were so concerned about the guy pissing in his back entry why did you cross the road and not front him up eh?,,,,i bet you have never pissed outside in your life!!,,,yeah thought so.,,,these fuckers piss me off,yes the city centre is in decay and decline ,as are most major cities today,(we now shop on retail parks with free parking, plus the ease of next day to your door deliveries via amazon etc. etc.) but we dont need numptys like this making it worse.,,,if you are so deeply distressed about the situation pal,go down civic hall and ask a few questions or go up to the lou macari project and lend a hand,,,,,oh i forgot, you dont have time because you need to edit your vids.,,,TOSSER.

We lived on Stone Road back in the late 60's/early 70's. A short walk to Trentham gardens. It was quiet. Now that road is grid locked on a regular basis and constantly full of traffic! I still have family there and they don't like to see the deprivation. Unfortunately the dilapidation is endemic throughout this once beautiful country of ours. Society no longer cares about where they live, just how they can earn millions becoming an "influencer" on tiktok or selling drugs on the streets. Generations are growing up in households that have never worked, nor care to, whilst they get a constant payout from the government. The issue just gets worse with each scroaty family that breeds. We also have the influx of migrants that come from countries where they also don't care about how their property looks, then have the audacity to complain about it, and stupid government bodies give them more handouts to make them go away. It's no good demolishing these areas and building shiny new properties. It'll go the same way. Put it this way, you put Aldi shopping in a Harrods bag, it's still Aldi shopping. Same with new social housing.

Apparently the following drivel got posted on a British Chinese forum. Model minority my a$$: "There are several white people who make KZfaq videos about squalor and deprivation in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. The videos show public areas filled with hypodermic needles and disgusting things, like the aftermath of street defecation. Almost all the drug addicts they show are white people like themselves, which means that the disgusting filth and squalor they show that's associated with that lifestyle is therefore caused by their fellow whites, but they always go on to mention Eastern European shops selling drugs under the counter, and what they universally refer to as "migrants", and they are obsessed with a migrant hostel near the city centre and mention it out of context all the time. They also seem to be angry (with a hint of jealousy) that most of the shops that are still trading are owned by non-whites, as though we don't live in a free market economy where anyone could have bought the shops when they came on the market (assuming they could stay sober for long enough to complete the purchase and then remain sober while trying to run a business successfully). " "Why do they do this? Why can't they admit that their own race has very serious problems unconnected with any other group of people? Can't they consider that low academic achievement amongst whites from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds and a culture centred around alcohol could have more to do with the decline in the fortune of working class whites than the fact that "OH NOOO!!! There's a migrant hostel nearby!"?"

Man, breaks my heart to see my home town in such decline, yet then again what did we expect after Thatcher shut down the pits, and finished the unions. Pot banks gone, Shelton Bar gone etc etc, thousands of people out of work and nothing ever put back to replace the gap. It definitely is not the place I grew up anymore, complete ghost towns now Hanley, Stoke, Burslem, Tunstall all of them.
