I do miss the old days when we used to all meet on Public Square in early June to watch the fids!😢

For sure! I haven't done much with KZfaq other than to use it for our video posts, so I missed it that it was you, Mindy! Thanks for the message and hope all is great with you! Let us know if you see anything concerning at the TT! We're starting busy with most of the juvies fledging around the same time.

These birds seriously need to be excluded from being federally protected, that's like a rat pack getting away from being federally protected because this is not nature.

Chris, what does casting mean? Why is she doing that?
@CCOHperegrine4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chery911-- I am so sorry, as I really only use KZfaq to upload videos that I then share to our Facebook page and just realized that I haven't responded to anyone. You asked a good question-- when they cast they expel a pellet of the undigestible remains of the prey, much like an owl pellet. Their digestive systems are able to dissolve bone, though, so unlike with owl pellets you wouldn't find bones of the prey in a peregrine cast and it's mostly wet feathers and sometimes the seeds that the prey birds have eaten. We have described this more on our page and have images of casts and casting. Thanks for your question and sorry for the LONG delay in responding!

Elsa? I must be behind, I thought Lady Millar was at TT. Thanks for the clips.

Hi Cheryl! This is the first time we've seen her at the site, though she has been less present at the Hope Memorial Bridge site, so we suspected that she was exploring. We described it in more detail on our Facebook page, if you're interested (C&C's Ohio Peregrine Page), as we mainly just use KZfaq to upload the clips to share. Thanks for your interest.

Yes, it's just that in this case I didn't see the little guy get any food. Still hopeful, though. :-)

Oftentimes they will. I'll keep posting as they develop and you will see them remaining social and "playing nice", yet becoming more greedy/aggressive. This is a necessary part of their development, and the adults have to utilize tactics to take care of all of them (such as positioning her body to feed whichever one/ones she knows needs it the most). I can easily miss your questions on here since I track our page more frequently and just use KZfaq to upload videos. So please don't hesitate to ask questions on the page if I don't answer here in a timely manner, Coeli! :-)
