The PPP retrospective review series: Part 10 A good episode, but I don’t really have anything to say about any of it’s specific happenings. What I will say though is that it got me thinking about if I even have any guilty pleasures. I don’t have any guilty pleasures if the definition is “I’m afraid to tell people that I like this show/movie”. There’s nothing I enjoy that I’m embarrassed to tell people about. However, I do have “guilty pleasures” in the sense of things that I would probably never watch in the company of others. The biggest example for me would have to be “K-On”. It’s a very cutesy anime that’s a HUGE comfort show for me as well as incredibly well made due to Naoko Yamada’s genius & oversight, but I would feel SOOOO self conscious watching it alongside almost any of my friends. Again, it’s a show that can be categorized as “cute girls doing cute things”, and I’m a 20 year old adult man. The show isn’t pervy or anything, not at all, but I would still feel so uncomfortable watching it with others.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 9 -It’s the first full news episode! The first of many. What an iconic staple. -Kinda wild hearing a reference to. I can hardly remember what it was like to like in a Pre-TikTok world. A much happier time. the whole Szechuan sauce debacle is also a huge blast from the past for me. -14:49. Oh this barely even scratches the surface. It’s nothing compared to the various “BHL Old Man Rants” or recent memory. -SPIDER-VERSE FORSHADOWING -Also Very interesting to hear stuff from around the beginnings of the “Me Too” movement all these years later.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 8 - Is this the very first instance of “buncha nonsense”? I think it might be. - 4:04. Very accurate statement there Freddy. You could see the future apparently. - Frederick Carlson. Yes that’s DEFINITELY the name of the guy from Up. - When this episode first came out, I was not yet at a point in my life where I had cried at ANY piece of media ever. That wouldn’t happen until 2020. Violet Evergarden was my first, and there have been numerous since. That series finally breaking me open has led to me being so much more emotional with the things I watch now. I’m incredibly thankful for it.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 7 - FIRST MENTION OF THWAITES!!! The icon himself. - Funny you mention your wish for Mutt to die in a train accident, cuz even though that’s not exactly what happened, Mutt did die & Dial of Destiny did open on a train. - The X-Men did go to space in Dark Phoenix! Didn’t do them much good though… - Your concerns about Episode 9 were well founded. That movie was kinda garbage & JJ Abrams is mostly to blame. - Thinking that Steve should have died in Civil War is a WILD take. Both in hindsight & even just back then. And yeah, Infinity War did turn out to be quite epic.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 6 Kinda wild seeing the beginnings of your interest in Bojack. You truly had no idea what was ahead of you. Also it’s so sad listening back to this & realizing we never got movies about Obi-Wan or Boba Fett. Just shitty Disney+ shows in their place

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 5 - The pod never did get that intro song you talked about all the way back then. Unfortunate. But it’s cool to see that the wish to make the pods weekly would eventually come true. At least for a time. - Interesting to see the beginning of The Office obsession. As well as the first references to Chef & Madds Mikkelsen which would become pod staples. Also is that an anecdote at 55:30? - THE TOM CNEWS FINALLY BEGINS IN EARNEST. You live to see it. - I remember being genuinely kinda angry about your take on War For The Planet of The Apes. I still adore that movie but I was far less mature back in 2017. 13 year olds rarely are. Even though I still disagree with the take, it’s honestly super mild. No idea what I was so fussed about lol.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 4 - Your love of Louie CK did not age well at all lol. - 20:00 is kinda like the first ever Tom Cnews if you think about it. - You’re selling Justice League TAS really well here. I should definitely get around to watching it sometime. - The fact that you cried at goldilocks dying for an hour is probably the hardest I laughed in any of these first 4 episodes. - I think Freddy’s unnamed movie at 49:28 might be Bruce Almighty. Also I agree with him that the beat in “Over The Hedge was super freaky as a kid. - Yeah Coraline is literally just a Horror movie for kids. SUCH a banger. Your dad is based for exposing you to it so young. This was a pod of many first. First Tom Cnews (kinda), the first full Freddy Outro, and the first Pod Hiatus. Overall, the first real banger episode imo.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 3 Some of this stuff is REALLY funny in hindsight. Y’all thought that Tom Hardy’s Venom would be intimidating AND that Indy 5 was gonna come out in 2019? Hilarious. Your “Spider-Man: Homecoming” predictions were pretty much 100% accurate though. The audio glitches also make so much sense for this pod. Truly in the spirit of “Poorly Planned”.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 2. - It’s funny that Benedict would be the one who became known for his occasional angry rants, because let it be known that the earliest angry rant in PPP history was Freddy tearing into Pixar’s “Cars” franchise. - 1:01:40 aged incredibly well. In the most affectionate way possible, this is EXACTLY what Freddy would continue to bring to the podcast. - Benedict’s Baby Driver obsession is really funny. Good episode.

The PPP retrospective review series: Part 1. Now that the pod’s over, I’ve found myself really missing the new episodes every week. So I’ve decided to re listen to the whole thing & give my thoughts on each episode. Even if it’s to an audience of no one, I just feel like doing it. - It’s funny that you included an explanation of what podcast are, because as hilarious redundant as that seems now, this actually was my first time ever listening to a podcast all the way back in 2017, so imagine that was all very informative for my 13 year old self. - I still lowkey think the pod should have been called “Denmark’s Informal Movie Council”. Kinda goes hard. - Jokes on you, Sam Neil WAS in Thor Ragnarok! - Y’all though “The Lion King” 2019 was gonna be good lol… - I had no idea that the whole “Blanta” but dated all the way back to episode one. Wild. - Having to Tom Cnews feels so deeply wrong. Good episode!

One final recommendation I’d like to urge at the end here. Both of y’all SERIOUSLY need to watch that Star Wars show “Andor”. I know you feel that most of the recent Star Wars stuff has been mediocre, and I agree, but trust me when I say that this show is TRULY a diamond in the rough. It’s definitely a little slow in the first 3 episodes, but the things that it builds to are some of the best Star Wars we’ve ever gotten. It’s a totally different tone & style from anything else in the franchise. The Empire has never felt more oppressively terrifying, and The Rebellion has never felt more urgently necessary. I could go on about it for hours. As a huge Star Wars fan, I cannot overstate how happy this show made me. Far exceeding even the good shows like The Mandalorian. It is absolutely TOP TIER television. Let alone top tier Star Wars. I hope you’ll give it a shot at some point! I really do think you’ll like it.

I started watching BHL Hudson in 2016 and was thrilled to find out you were starting a podcast a year later. I listened to every episode from day 1 and the PPP became a fixture in my pop culture lineup. It's truly amazing in hindsight to realize I've been a regular since I was in middle school and now I'm about to graduate college. And since I'm close to your guys' age it's been incredible to watch you guys grow up with me. Many others have put this far more eloquently, but I'll say this: You've talked about comfort shows on the pods. I hope you know that you provided that for me and many others for several years, which is no small feat that you both should be really proud of.

It's been a wonderful experience the past 6 years. As far as spin offs of original franchises go, this one was really solid. It was a sincere and thoughtful spin off of the original channel that grew into its own. Thanks for the laughs. Heres hoping to a successful return to the pod in the next century or so! I predict that when the pod returns, the inevitable Tom Cruise in space movie will have already released in theatres.

It's difficult to articulate my feelings on the podcast as a whole, so I'll say this. The other day I was working on a crossword puzzle, the question was 'what is Benji's last name', I immediately burst out laughing, remembering your impressions of 'I am DUNN'. This reminded me of how much I've enjoyed the podcast over the years, with me never being able to dis-associate certain scenes from your hilarious descriptions. This means that random lines of dialogue like 'Peacemaker... what a joke' make me laugh hysterically now, due to all the jokes and hashtags. It's sad to see that the pod's ending, but I'm glad to see it's going out on a high note! As Tom Cruise once said 'I'll see you in the movies'.

Pod 200. Damn! I remember watching the pod the first day it came out in the summer of 2017 on BHL’s channel as an 11 year old about to start secondary school and now I’m about to finish secondary skl next summer. This pod has always been there to help me and cheer me up through my bad days and when I look back at my teenage years I would definitely have Remember this as my favourite KZfaq channel (after FDK Gaming obviously). Not really ready for the finale and don’t know if it’d top this monster (GEORGE) of an episode. I love both of you guys and will miss this pod and the BHL chancel forever, I see myself listening to the podcast on loop for decades to come until I die. I do pray for a return a few years later but only time can tell. Thanks for all these years for all the laughs and memories. From Saamresh aka Movie Guy

Thanks for including my videos at the end! I wonder BHL how do they compare to stuff you’ve seen in film school? Also I just want to say thank you both for this incredible show. I listened to this pod ever since it started in 2017. Which means I had this pod throughout middle and high school. Middle school and high school weren’t the best for me, so having this podcast really helped me. This podcast showed me I’m not the only one who views movies the way I do. it’s cathartic in a way that it’s ending the year I start college. Thank you Ben and Fred, I will give the pod and BHL a shoutout in my Oscar’s speech, (that is if BHL isn’t canceled for ageism)
