A cidade de Dallas é bonita, mas falta calor humano, que não se vê na cidade. Onde estão as pessoas dessa cidade que não se vê, nem uma única alma, só se vê carro e isso os Estados Unidos tem de sobra.

When I left the Ontario area almost 40 years ago, there were tens of square miles of empty land extending to Duarte and beyond. Now watching this the area has become an extension of the miles of concrete and asphalt that Southern California has become.

Why are there so many parking lots in the city?

Because downtown Dallas actually does get busy on weekdays and few people ride public transportation. It's hard to find a place to park.

The most ridiculous freeway exits in Dallas are the Dallas North Tollway southbound to I-35 southbound (just one lane) and the I-35 northbound to Dallas North Tollway (again only one lane). Lines for both of these exits can stretch up to 2 miles. Absolute ridiculousness!!!

American cities and their areas really are not tiny by any metric, they just lack density and are super spread out. The DFW metro area would easily dwarf shanghai's metropolitan area in sheer size, with DFW being about 24 thousand sq km and shanghai being 15-16 thousand sq km. This in despite of the shanghai metropolitan region having nearly 10 million more people than all of Texas.
