Laettner sort of fell into the same trap that JJ Redick did later in that they lean into being the jerk that most opposing fans think they are. “Oh, you think I’m a jerk. I’ll show you a jerk…”

“Christian Laettner was the dirtiest player I ever coached against.” -Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun, in his autobiography. In the entire book, Calhoun never criticizes any other opposing player, for any reason.

He gets a technical but Draymond Green gets ejected and suspended in the next crucial game 3 against Sacramento in 2023. For stomping Sabonis. OK Amerikkka! We see you!!

As a black guy it sickens me when black (often middle age) commentators will say that THIS is way harder than what Draymond did and then ask why racism is still a thing. Cuts both ways. Take your bias glasses off.

Laettner shouldn’t have done that. He could’ve killed Timberlake if he stomped down further. He also shouldn’t have been on the Dream Team over Shaq.

He stomped the wrong guy too. It was Deron Feldhaus who shoved Laettner down, not Timberlake. kzfaq.infoUgkxzv8gEuHEwaHEUYyfXqoI2g8NW9o0QAcB?si=G2_-jLUuZ17pmTrs

Funny thing is that it wasn’t even Timberlake that pushed him down on the other end, it was actually Deron Feldhaus. Rewatch the game on here and you can clearly see it. I think he just assumed it was Timberlake because he was standing over Laettner when he got back up while Feldhaus was already headed up court.
@nedcassley5169 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for providing accurate information. The misdirected retaliation was less a chest stomp than a belly tap, which is good since it was administered to an innocent man (who jumped up smiling).
@patrickgray5633Ай бұрын
Yes I've told people that for years that Timberlake wasn't the one who pushed him down it was Feldhaus indeed.

People act like he shot him dead on the floor in front of 16,000 fans. Was it unnecessary and terrible sportsmanship? Absolutely. Was it vile and the worst thing we've seen on a basketball court? No, not even close.

White privilege at its finest. Any black player would’ve been ejected, if Jalen Rose had done that or Weber, they would’ve been tossed out the game.

Christian Laettner was a piece of shit. I have always loved duke. When Laettner went pro I went to see a game of his in Chicago. I went up to him b4 game during shoot around and he said he couldn't sign then because the coach said and for me to go under this tunnel after the game and he'd sign it then. I was just a kid, like 8 to 10 years old and I went to the tunnel and waited. He never came, I never got the autograph. So in my opinion, he's a worthless piece of shit, why lie to a kid.
