The Acratech GV2 is an older model. Don’t believe Acratech currently offers it. I do have the GPSS and endorse it altho I like their Universal ball head a bit better.

If you have the first leveller, why do you need a ball head above that? I have a more compact pan head for panoramas if that’s all that’s needed.

If the level is only on the tripod, you'd have to level the tripod first. That is extremely time- consuming, and if anything moves slightly, you'd have to start over again.. With the devices I've shown, it takes a few seconds. The fastest, simplest, strongest, most compact head is the "Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 with Panning System." It's only $280 at B&H. Thanks Bruce -now I see. Your videos are really helpful. I had been considering the Manfrotto 438 ball type leveller, but the Acratech stuff looks better engineered and lighter in weight.

So, at that point in the history of New Jersey, were chain saws illegal? My dad could have subdivided that tree into bite-sized chunks in ten minutes.

Should have had the guys that implode buildings come and blow this up. Leave the concrete , it would have made a great place for fish habitat. The only problem is the rebar,

Unless they planned to destroy the dam for other reasons, I don't see why somebody wasn't capable of cutting the tree up and removing it without destroying the neighborhood dam.

There are so many reason to take down the damns on this river. The natural habitat will be restored as fish can swim upstream from the Delaware River. Water will be cleaner as flow increases. Area behind damn will no longer flood as there is a place for the water to go. Repairs necessary to have damn operate properly (which serves no present purpose) would cost too much. Finally, since water flow increases, the river will no longer form a lake upstream which always kept that water too warm for the native habitat.

Pretty amazing that three years ago, with just a week of research, you came to the same conclusion I've come to after about a month of research (with a somewhat younger but obviously not sharper mind!). Most things change every couple of months in the digital photography world, but this remains quire up to date. Very helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for your video! Even today is extremely difficult to find a tutorial on how to assemble an arca-swiss P0 with standard arca type mounts.
@bruceliv
@bruceliv 7 жыл бұрын
The head mounts on the tripod by standard ¼ or ⅜ threaded screw. You mount a 2-¼ receiving plate on the head itself. I use the Kirk with level (a must for panoramas). RRS and Sumwayfoto. In fact, Sunwayfoto makes an appropriate clamp specifically for the Area Swiss PO now! www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1152902-REG/sunwayfoto_ddy_60p0_discal_clamp_for.html?sts=pi And then, of course, you'll need an Arca Swiss camera plate on the tripod mount on your camera. Many plates are custom manufactured for specific popular cameras.

Hello, I ended using the Really Right Stuff B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp, a little bigger than the ballhead but works really good. I used the 3/8"-16 bushing (including with the arca-swiss) and locked everything with Loctite 242 Blue. The combination works really well, I am actually impress by the arca-swiss build quality.

While recommending the blue Loctite, you're holding a package of Loctite super glue which happens to have a blue cap. Instead, I'm sure the manufacturer meant Loctite 242 threadlocker which is a blue liquid. As an engineering technician, I use Loctite 242 on 1/4-20 screws.
@bruceliv
@bruceliv 9 жыл бұрын
You are correct, though cap colors were mentioned and I purchased what was available -- choices: green blue, red. He didn't want heat to be applied in case one needed to remove the screw. Actually the stuff is holding well, perhaps luckily! Thanks for the info

I'm considering the same set up at the moment, the TQC-14 with the P0. Is the P0 base small enough to fit when the column is collapsed the whole way? I will probably use it with the centre column removed, and if I'm using a head that is too big to fit within the wing nut, i won't be able to.
@bruceliv
@bruceliv 9 жыл бұрын
The PO base is 53mm in diameter, and the TQC-14 center column base is 55mm in diameter. So yes, plenty of clearance to collapse the entire unit.

wow your 70 years old and spending your hard earned money on this arcatech stuff ! when really all you need is a good ballhead and tripod and your set,looking back you could have had a nice camera with what you spent on the arcatech stuff !but its never to late to learn about this camera stuff,like your video though thanks..

Before you judge what I'm spending money on, and considering I have a Nikon D800E and D7100, why don't you view part III and especially part IV of the set? Also remember that I shoot lots of panos where I need quick leveling setups. The Acratechs were returned, and I ended up with the Swiss Arca PO Ballhead which does everything simply, is strong and compact.

Bruce Livingston faithblinded I agree, when you really dedicated to photography (average, semi-pro, pro) you buy an tripod for a lifetime. I bought last year an Gitzo Systematic GT3532S with an Gitzo GH2780QR Ballhead for around almost 900 euro. These are all top of the line stuff, but works so perfect in the field. I have an warranty for almost 15 years, when you register your gitzo stuff. I hear also alot of good things of RSS. Good build quality for the bucks. Only things is, there are a kinda ripp of versions of the Gitzo Systematic. RRS already broke a few gitzo patents before in the past.
