Hint: The video has subtitles that allow you to focus specifically on what's being said at the moment that it's spoken. I find it more helpful than the actual book. Also, it goes by faster when you read with 1.75 speed

He writes in such a roundabout way that it's sometimes difficult to follow what he's trying to say It's like saying "The person of male alignment, birthed from a motherly figure not but 28 years ago, placed one foot in front of another for a distance of 17 feet across faux planks affixed to a floor towards a desk wrought with iron and carelessly flung a wooden writing utensil with a core of soft graphite atop the oxidized creation." It's extremely inefficient, but it gets the message across.

I started reading this book at 8 am on Monday, and it's 5 a.m. on Tuesday now, thank you all for being with me on this amazingly shitty journey. Your comments made this god-awful story a little bit better

Does anyone else want to fight Dickens in hand-to-hand combat for writing this atrocity of a book?

Every single chapter I listen to drains a little bit of my soul. Dickens was a child-hating sadist

SPOILERS! I feel such a lack of closure with this ending😭 they put so much time and detail into the relationship between carmilla and Laura and then they just killed carmilla without a single word. I so badly wanted there to be some sort of confrontation or even just a dying speech of some sort… like she basically was killed in her sleep (except she seemingly woke up to cry out in pain) but there was noooo closuree😭😭😭😭 I was literally on the edge of my seat, waiting for Laura to put the pieces together and have to face carmilla. Like it was just like, carmilla was a strange girl and then in the flick of a second BOOM she’s a vampire and also dead…no last words no time to process…damn… still liked the book tho🫶😔 fly high carmilla (or low tbh)

Mil Nicholson is the best audiobook characterisation in the business. Her diction, her ability to change from one character to the next, whether male or female, hero or villains. Dickens would be proud of this lady, bringing a reality to his novels.
