For some reason, I'm 100% sure that Tamayo is the ancestor of Kanae and Shinobu, it's just that the author forgot to write it down or wanted to introduce it, but changed her mind halfway through. First of all, there is a huge external resemblance between Tamayo and Shibonu, which I think is difficult to deny. She may be the weakest in terms of physical prowess amongst the hashiras but she is also handles the medic ward for the demon slayers. she most likely made the antidotes for most of the demon's poisons and even help tamayo with both the antidote to reverse being a demon, and the poisons for muzan. Even after what happened to her, she and tamayo got the last laugh. :)
