The entire documentary is currently available on Kanopy, which can be accessed through many library streaming services. Thanks, Michael Moore, for bringing it to our attention.

Just listened to Michael Moore’s podcast and homage to Julia Reichart. Thank Goddess for women like her. I’m 70 yrs old and know exactly what she was talking about then. Sadly, it is a reality today for so many women in the world. Think of Iran!

Ann, I am also in my70's (72) and remember this time well. Thanks for all you and others in the Women's movement did to make things better for women. We still have a long way to go. Loss of Roe vs Wade very serious. Lots more options for young women in the workplace. And thanks Me Too for speaking out about sexual harassment in the job and in education. I'd like to rekindle and start a new wave of feminist action- universal pre-K, day care on demand and publicly funded, equal pay (When?), safe streets at night. I was a part of the first "Take Back the Night" marches in Eugene, Oregon back in the 70's and 80's and am ready to pick up where we left off. Thanks again, Ann.

This is a reminder of where we have come from. For women who came of age during that time, this film is a reminder of the pervasive messages that shaped us. Thanks to filmmakers like Julia Reichart, we can have a better sense of the lives of young women who were impacted by the misogyny of that time.

RIP Julia Reichert. I was moved by her Oscar award winning documentary, American Factory and only learned now of her first documentary when I read about it this morning on Michael Moore's Substack. Thank you Julia for shedding light on the silent obligations and lives of the women who lived in their limited roles in the 60's and 70's. And thank you to all the women pioneers who paved a way for our younger upcoming generations to step out of societies definition and constraints to follow their own dreams and goals, regardless if they followed an unconventional path that does not include marriage, kids and/or supportive work roles.

And thank you Michael for bringing this work to our collective attention. Sound drops out twice on this version, so I'm off to the Criterion Collection for a better copy. Godmother of documentary film, for real. Thank you, Julia Reichert.

Yellow Springs dearly misses Julia Richert. May her legacy live on in her work and her inspirational influence on filmmakers everywhere.
Why would they film the women being stripped searched.

I noticed that too. I noticed a lot of drill team/cheerleading coaches have that 1 favorite who has been on the squad before who they know have great leadership skills. That girl definitely had great leadership skills to teach the newer ones. It's common.

Tried out for this but injury prevented me from being able to high kick so that was the end of that dream. Yes you better believe hazing. But never when Miss Gussie Nell Davis was around, but I figured she had to know about it. It was like Mean Girls on steroids. They should have warned girls trying out that they needed to have several months under their belt of body conditioning and toning otherwise they will end up like me. I felt like I was in good shape but not when they start you out for hours every day. And yes, it is somewhat like a cult as you can see. Beauty knows no pain???
