Hi :) I was wondering whether you put elastic along the edges of the front when you sew or just rely on the grain/stretch and elastic in the straps?

Could you please state which way (right sides & wrong sides) the fabric is facing for the gusset piece.. I’m new at gussets so this would be very helpful. Great tutorial though and the shorts came out cute. Was able to make in an hour! Thank you!

Are there any tips for lining something like this?
@natspatterns3562
@natspatterns3562 3 ай бұрын
Yes!! Use a four way stretch swimwear lining to cut out a front piece of the pattern, and place in between the two pieces of your regular fabric 😊

@@natspatterns3562hi! This might be my error but when I did this the swimwear lining ended up on the outside with the twist. Thanks for your help!

Isn't that uncomfortable with the elastic facing your skin?
@natspatterns3562

Not at all! It’s very secure. You can always put braided elastic on the inside if you prefer and don’t need the security

If you want to, but it might not feel compressive and return to its original shape. The best thing is to just try it out yourself and see how it feels

How does one know what size needle I need
@natspatterns3562
@natspatterns3562 5 ай бұрын
For stretch fabric, you’ll need a ballpoint or stretch needle. It should be pretty simple to go to the craft store, tell them the machine you have and they’ll help you 😊

You may want to consider flipping this video so that the perspectives match. I got so confused because everything you do is upside-down compared to my point of view. 😅

What fabric are you using
@natspatterns3562
@natspatterns3562 Жыл бұрын
Spandex! Also known as Lycra. I look for fabric with 15-20% of spandex or Lycra in its ratio to make sure it has the stretch I need

Is lycra easy to work with I'm a very competent sewer of many many fabric s I've been sewing for many years and now I've lost a vast amount of weight from 14stone down to 9 1/2stone I'm confident enough to wear lycra and feel comfortable in it I have S2 sewing machines and a 2 overlockers which I use more than the sewing machine you have one of my overlockers my other overlock is a Bernina 800dl the singer over locker I won in a send a post card competition in a sewing magazine

Hi Kym! If you’re a competent sewer, you will have no trouble with Lycra! I don’t recommend starting with shiny lycra as it is very slippery and will slip in your sewing machine. Other than that, you will be able to sew the Lycra just fine! Congratulations on the weight loss and gaining confidence! 💕

What type of fabric is this?
@natspatterns3562
@natspatterns3562 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shakira! This fabric is known by a couple different names. Spandex, lycra, nylon lycra. It’s important that the fabric has 15-20% spandex or lycra in it. The stores you buy it from should tell you this percentage in the ad. Hope this helps!
