Herodotus is mentioned a lot in recent episodes. He is such a primary source for many civilizations in the Mediterranean and middle east.

Glad to see that you are getting the millions of views you deserve. Ever since I heard episode 1 years ago I felt you deserved more recognition, it appears that, over the years, you finally got some of it. Here's to millions more! Hands down the best history documentary series on KZfaq and, dare I say it, media as a whole.

I thought some might be interested to know that in those times beer was brewed in a way that created a natural antibiotic. So not only was beer already more healthy than water in most cases, but it actually was also a medicine. And we think we live in the greatest times.

Thank you for making these great videos, a learning experience always. These stories really resonate with me. I have a feeling that our civilization is on the edge of one of those mighty unravelings. The serpent is uncoiling. With the knowledge of the past, we should be able to catch this, to turn it around, and to create a time of peace and harmony and working together with others. I wish I felt we could hope for this.

Greek fire was natueal turpentine from pine forrestd. I drove through such a forrest in Spain. Having used it in my workshop I was immediately reminded of it's pleasent smell. When reading of greek fire and its behaviour I immediately sure that was a major ingredient.

Can't wait to get the book once it's out here in the US. Having to wait for a foreign publication to come here reminds of being a kid, reading about Japanese games that hadn't been localized yet!

Please correct me if i misunderstood what ypu said. You said that their architecture domes from sumerian. I can see that. Now when it comes to writing. Why would they use an incredibly cryptic logographic form of writing if they supposedly had knowledge of the sumerian cuneiform

Simplicity. Egyptian hieroglyphics ultimately developed into the simpler Phoenician consonants writing system.

kinda odd they would have the men to build the pyramids but not a handful of men to be able to guard it? seams odd

I searched for these documentaries but the answer I received was that no one studied these civilizations since it was a waste of time and no School would touch these themes since they are nothing but make believe and useless to teach in Universities. No teachers would teach since there are no books or on the subject is all but a fantasy told to entertain. No one believes that these people could live for over 30 thousand years. Fables they call it. This is the first time I heard read and watched about these civilizations.

Too many Black Africans in the documentary. politicized revisionism of Egyptian history aiming at appeasing Afrocentric commuities. I am Egyptian and i don't know where did all those Blacks come from all of sudden masquerading as Egyptians. They aren't and they can not.

Great documentary. Like the indigenous peoples of Australia and many other places in the pacific, this is a sad sad story of the demise of a lovely people caused by cruel and money grabbing Europeans who, despite their seeming sophistication, were in fact almost animals.

Why is the Blue Nile "so called"?
@hughjanus533614 сағат бұрын
Per Prof. Saifeddin, the 'Blue Nile' moniker is from the Sudanese who call everything which is dark in color 'Azraq' (Blue). They called this Nile blue because of its dark, turbid color due to the heavy silt it carries, in comparison with the White Nile, which seems clear in comparison.

Love ALL of this series- however a lot of conjecture nowadays about the pyramids NOT being burial chambers and maybe even being generators of some kind… it would be very difficult to mention this though I imagine. Also images of them being built with those ramps is also undergoing second thoughts. The fact is that no one REALLY knows still to this day.
