Blacks are still video black if there's any light being projected, the scene has a candle for instance and the whole screen is gray. I have tested so many LG projectors, they are of poor image quality for serious usages. Also there is no way you can make 10,000 lumens projector at a cheap price. @@DavidSusiloUnscripted We have done more than 300+ Dolby atmos setups. However, with Auro 3D layout, the precession of sound expression especially from height channels are evident. It doesn't have to be Auro 3D content. While playing a Dolby Atmos content and Selecting Auro3D decoding in AVR or Pre-Processor sounds more pronounced and articulated. One of my client was skeptical to go for Auro 3D layout, We disconnected all the other channels except the height channels and played a Dolby Atmos Content in Auro 3D layout. While we switched between the three decoders such as Dolby Atmos Vs Auro 3D Vs DTS-X, Height channels sounded far better than Atmos in Auro 3D. DTS-X was some where closer to Auro3D. You can also test in this way to verify my claims and let me know what you think. If my interpretation is incorrect, I will make sure, I correct myself.

To my ears the Sony have too much bass bloat. The Ace have bass bloat but nowhere near as the Sony. I prefer the Ace over the Sony anytime.

I haven’t listened to it yet but from the drawings it should sound much better than the current Arc especially in the bass response and dialogue quality. This is of course, only an educated conjecture.

Which projector do you use? Usually this can be helped by forcing your Shield to do the same resolution and refresh rate as the projector (don’t use auto resolution on the Shield)

There is no such settings on the Panasonics, Sony and LG. Only on Magnetar and Reavon players.

I say what I see. I absolutely hate fake 4K… BUT… The BenQ actually have better lens than the Sony at the edges of the projected image and have better real-time HDR tone mapping than Sony (that only has 3 settings: low, mid, high).

@viri88 LOL. Ask any true professional calibrators. No one likes the Sony. It uses exaggerated sharpness, overly saturated colours that also using the wrong colourspace, overprocessing in their static tone mapping that crushes black level just to create an illusion of better looking blacks. Kris Deering, Joel Silver, and countless other seasoned professionals calibrator dislike the Sony for the identical reasons. Of course your dealers will show Sony in a better light (albeit misleading). The profit margin on the Sony is 100% higher than the profit margin of the BenQ. But if you still prefer the Sony, get it.

I didn't try this yet. For me was upsetting enough absence of CD slot and android auto stops verbal direction during my call. The camera is recording 144 fps display at 30 fps and you’re looking at your display also in 30 fps. Of course you think you see drop frame. SMH. There is absolutely no drop frame and no stutter in reality. This is why I don’t like demonstrating things on KZfaq, there are too many people who think they know it all without taking facts into consideration. In the video I clearly said that I use 144 fps and on the playback file you can see that it is in 30 fps. Logic will indicate when you’re watching 144 Hz on a 30 Hz video frames will look stuttering and dropping frames.

@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Dude, frame rate drops are irrelevant of refresh rate. 30, 60, 120 its irrelevant. You can very clearly see the game stuttering (ie pauses) and frame drops when scrolling around, when playing the various animations etc. This stuttering a vastly worse than the stutter that would be caused from a 144hz to 30hz conversion. I don’t know what you have to gain here from simping for this, it’s an old mobile game, I’m not shitting on the tablet. I hope you’re getting decent coin from OnePlus. Feel free to post a reply with a frame graph.

My room is not wide enough for 7.1 so I have to settle for 5.1. If you are sitting against the wall, 7.1 id definitely not needed so the maximum you’ll need is 5.1.2. Lastly, I always calibrate to listening playback level because the ears perceive sonic balance differently at levels below reference. Hope it helps.

AppleTV+ menu is in HDR and the Disney+ menu depends on the last movie you watched. If the last movie was in HDR then when you open the Disney+ app, it will be in HDR. Also make sure that the picture settings is in Auto mode such as “HDR (AUTO)” or “SDR (AUTO)”. Hope it helps.

I was actually watching kingdom of the planet of the apes which worked fine and kicked over to high lamp auto hdr10 right away. But when I switched to Young women and the sea it switched to low lamp mode.

@davemccague222 try turning off HLG, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision on your AppleTV box (or other streamers). This way it will force the box to go to HDR10 for your projector. This may solve the problem. Not 100% sure but that may help.

It sounds like the laser head is dying but usually when this happens in a year usually because it is located in a warm/hot environment such as above receiver, enclosed cabinets, etc. Try getting it repaired under warranty.
