The answer is the developer is found guilty or accepts responsibility, the council instructs the changes to bring the building as close as possible to the original design. Both are guilty here the design was outdated and not renewed for this development, therefore some responsibility rests with the council, the developer failed to advise of issues with the design and made their own choices and did not consult their client. So Comer should be footing 85% of the restorative work, and the remaining 15% is covered by the council. Together, they make the building accessible, functional, and safe. As for footprint this could only be addressed by a demolition and that would exacerbated an already overloaded housing market and bring long delays while people find alternatives and would drive up house prices/rents even higher as the demand vs housing stock/availability locally would skyrocket. This building will be here for a long time now, so the best solution and least harmful to the community and residents/tenants is restorative works. The council can demand whatever they like, they don't own the development nor do the council have any excuse for not doing their routine inspections during this build to see these issues, the council planning engineers are supposed to visit site regularly and at key points in the build, to approve and Co firm, if they had been doing that then these differences would have been identified before the completion of the build. So the council failed to their job too.

I…see. So I have to be either studying, exceptionally talented, and rich. Ugh…I really just don’t wanna live in the US anymore man, I have not been to college and I really want to be a citizen somewhere that is NOT the US, because I’m strongly disliking where the country is going. I wouldn’t call myself exceptionally talented. I have not been to college. I do not have a relative in the UK. I REALLY wish I could just move and work for a couple years and earn citizenship that way. Man idk what to do.

I'm comfortable with both imperial and metric. I know 15c is my perfect temperature, or around 60f. I can visualize both meters and feet. I can easily convert km to miles. I don't think either system is better, they're just different. But if someone in Europe says temperature in Celsius to me, I'm good with it and can readily understand. I mean, 40c is way to hot for me! 😊

I like that they're actually attempting to reach younger people, I've enjoyed some of the memes. Would be nice if their policies were also attractive to younger people. Side note, I came across a blog post about the national service written by someone with military knowledge. They want 30,000 places for the army, thats nearly half the size of our current regular forces. There is nowhere to train these recruits, nowhere to live, nobody to train them, and definitely no money to pay them. The blog post summarised the costs involved and it was many billion more than the £1.5 the conservatives said it woud cost.

I agree completely with your points on the Greens. Their policies are really good and they really do seem to be the party for people to vote for who liked Corbyn in 2017/19 in terms of populist left leaning ideas. So they will be getting my vote, but yeah their comms are pretty poor when their policy platform is really positive.

I'm following you from Norway _(though I am Swedish),_ and I really love all the videos you do on politics and policy in the UK. It's nice to hear it from you, someone who's CHOSEN to live in the UK and wasn't born there - just like I have chosen to live in Norway. You bring your own "spin" on all of it that people who are born and raised in the UK might miss or just take for granted, and that's very valuable information to me who wants to hear aaaall types of ideas and opinions _(except for the horseshit opinions from idiots like Reform and the Conservatives, I'd do well without those)._

This billionaire chap really has a hard on for the 1950’s. I MIGHT respect him if he’d done ANY of the things he’s forcing his citizens into but NOPE. No he’s just cheerfully bullying disabled people, young people, working people… anyone standing still really. What a scary prat.

All very interesting but you talk way too fast for me to hear! We rack, pack and stack here in NZ also. Many vacant property boom office blocks were converted to apartments in the 1990s. Our maximum building standards are only slightly above UK minimum standards.

Poor Americans, they can't put up with change anymore, We understand that the British are generally bad at change too, butt change on this basic head changing level is for many a generational thing. My generation still equates 25 mm to the inch, my kids say dad what's an inch, my reply, "ask your girlfriend"

RE:butter on bread (or lack thereof). I was in the US last year with an American friend and we stopped somewhere and I went into a shop and bought a ham roll (I think it was). Brought it outside to eat - completely dry! What the bejeebers! My US friend told me I was supposed to go to the condiment shelf and put mayonnaise on it or whatever I wanted. Honestly, at that moment I thought all Americans are absolutely crazy. 🙂

East london denotes a location which is a specific zone, understood by locals. Your referring to a place that is East of London. Not East London. Thats my guess anyways as a non local

That list at 5:34 is very wrong, William the Conqueror banned slavery early 1100's, as he had the entire country inventoried and Britain weren't involved in slavery, only it's Colony's, a lot of evidence dating back century's, and firstly why would Portugal be the first Euro Country to get African Slaves to end it, Britain ended slavery, the abolishment of slavery was due to Britain forcing other's to end it entirely, Britain got involved after the government found out that their Colony's are doing some very wrong stuff aboard their navy ship's

Having gotten into Pokémon GO in the last few months, & how all-things distance is measured in kilometers, I've gotten accustomed to visualizing distance in KM right alongside miles. Additionally, after accidentally buying a cheap speedometer (for bicycle) that was only able to measure in KPH, I also have a grasp on how fast say, 30 KPH feels. However, like in your case, it all becomes unfamiliar again the moment I step into a car. These experiences though show that all people need is motivation & that in some cases, it can be passively picked up on. As long as metric isn't implemented in other areas of our life, there is no motivation to become accustomed to it.

Well said. Most people who are capable of thought are feeling this way. Democracy, as they call it, is completely broken because no one seems to be even paying lip-service anymore to the basic tenets of the compromise that it was.
