This is at my dad's house off the lake in Texas

I'm in Texas, so almost anything goes if you're outside of county limits. As for a favorite, yhat's a tough call. I am a fan of the longer lasting nishiki/willow breaks, and for that, the CodyBPyrotechnics branded (Dominator) cake does a good job. The others that are nice are Smoking Guns, Make It Rain (artillery shells), and Pyro Freak (smaller nishiki, but long lasting). The lace effect cakes are good for slower songs (Lace Combustion, Desert Rose). For zippers, I always get a 192 Proof (Dominator), even though it's gotten more expensive over the years. If you can get the 1.4 Pro stuff, it's hard to go wrong with those, but the 25 shot Instant Crackle (Dominator) wins hands down. It's all crackle at once, and it really adds a exclamation point. You can see three of them at once at the very end of our 2023 finale. Slice cakes also wow the crowd.

Each year we change it up a bit, but we always include Danger Zone and Great Balls of Fire. This year, the finale song is Helix by Hi-Finesse. I had to tweak the ending a little to give it one final hit, since the song ends a little too abruptly.

My day job (IT) is actually completely unrelated to fireworks. 😄 Our show has just gotten bigger each year, but if you're looking for a lot of stuff, you definitely need to go wholesale like americanwholesalefireworks.com/ . The retail stands charge way too much for a large quantity. The nice thing about AWF is that you can eventually get bigger discounts as you purchase more (they have different discount tiers). It's all based on lifetime purchase amounts, so over the years, we've reached the highest tier (outside of their new Heavyweight tier, which is intended for professionals).

Yea, the mortar racks are always the most work to get out, since they are so heavy. The pre-made pallets are new for us this year (we've done simple pallets in the past, but not this many). Hopefully they'll make things easier the day of the show (July 2nd)

Definitely. The nishiki consumer cakes have become pretty popular over the past few years. If you like that style, I'd recommend the Make It Rain shell kit by Sunwing and Smoking Guns by Joker. Pyro Freak by Miracle also has very nice hang time. The Nishiki Uppercut NOAB also looks very intriguing (this is the first year I've had it, so I don't know what it looks like in person).

I honestly couldn't say exactly which one it was. :) If you are referring to a cake with "wave" literally in the name, we didn't have any. I'm pretty sure it's not one of the Pro cakes from Dominator or Spirit of 76 either.

They ship to most US states, but federal law prohibits shipping to some of them. Their web site has more info. As far as cost goes, if you buy enough in one shipment, you can get different levels of lifetime VIP status which provides further discounts. We are currently on one of the highest tiers, so this stash was around $3600 before shipping costs (we also had a few hundred dollars worth of stuff left over from last year). Shipping starts around $120 base price and adds an average of $4-$5 per item.

We do have video of the 2018 show, just not posted. It wasn't quite as good as 2017, IMO, but I'll probably get around to posting it anyway.
