Hi, Amazing video. Can we schedule the daily export of data through data loader command line
@flyingpuma
@flyingpuma 4 ай бұрын
Yes, you can schedule a daily extract using a scheduling application. I have used Windows Task Scheduler to run the extract batch file on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. I did not include a demo of doing this in the video. There is a newer video of the extract process that uses the current version of the Data Loader utility: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5uhi7eFvqrXiaM.html

I lost track of how many times /how long I tried to get a permit, but it was well over a year. When I got the permit, it was the only time that I tried as a solo hiker. Everytime previous I was applying for two permits. Good luck.

These videos are very helpful in studying the route navigation. There was new information that I did not learn from other videos or the BLM map. Thank you!

Great video. Most of the videos don’t include the way back. Thanks!

I am fairly experienced hiker and I can easily see how someone could get lost here. The hard surfaces and sand don't lend themselves to a well worn trail for hikers to follow. When I hiked the trail I was more concerned with finding my way back. On my way to the Wave I stopped several times and took pictures looking back from where I came so that if needed, I could refer to my pictures. I was familiar with the area though from previous hikes from the Wire Pass Trailhead down the gulch. I knew that if I lost the trail coming back, I could generically head north and eventually intersect the gulch and follow it out.

I went a month ago. I wish I had found your video before I went. It is the best description of the route. We got a bit lost in our way in and our way out, nothing serious and part of the adventure, but for a first goer this video is great!

I wonder if this trail is more or less challenging than the others routes. It’s definitely shorter! Great video, excellent information!!
@flyingpuma

My thought is that this would be similar in the challenge level to other routes. In my view, the most challenging part of the hike is the sandy incline just before the entrance to the Wave. Unless a person completely avoided the Wire Pass Trailhead and hiked to the Wave from the south, I don't know of a way to avoid the sandy incline. I am a reasonably experienced hiker and I did not find this (the entire hike) overly challenging (compared to other hikes). There are just some spots where a person needs to take their time, catch their breath, drink some water and enjoy the hike. That being said, if I had a physical limitation that made it particularly difficult to scramble up an incline, this would not be an appropriate hike to attempt. The comment from Glen Smith is valid.

Thanks a lot for the wonderful explanation. Can we automate the Update task too ?
@flyingpuma
@flyingpuma Жыл бұрын
I expect that the answer is yes, but I have never done an update from the command line utility. Most of my work as a data analyst is centered on getting my hands on the data as opposed to the entry and updates. At the time I created this video, I was concentrating on methods of bringing data from Salesforce and other platforms together for further analysis.

I have created a new video using the Winter 2024 (v59.0.0) verson of the dataloader. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5uhi7eFvqrXiaM.html At 5:09 in this video I show using the encrypt command with a "-g" handle. This is now "-k" per the updated Salesforce documentation: developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.dataLoader.meta/dataLoader/loader_encryption.htm

Everyone should know that there are a few pretty serious inclines on the hike but still more than worth the trip.
@flyingpuma
@flyingpuma 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed - I had to stop to breathe a few times on the incline just before the Wave. The sand coupled with the incline makes for some slow going. It is so worth it though. Just take your time and enjoy it all. No need to race and there is no loss of pride in stopping to catch your breath, drink some water and take in the view.

Did you have a permit or did you just hike up on your own?
@flyingpuma

Coyote Buttes North requires an advance permit. I got my permit through the on-line lottery. The permit includes a pamphlet that has route descriptions and pictures. There was an individual checking permits (presumably from the Bureau of Land Management) on the day that I hiked. On a separate occasion, I also hiked the Wire Pass to Buckskin Gulch trail. Both times the log book at the trailhead and the day permits (for Wire Pass to Buckskin) where freshly stocked. It is pretty apparent that someone from the Bureau is there on a frequent basis. Considering the process that people go through to get a permit (either online or through the Kanab walk-in process), I don't think anyone would have any hesitation photographing and reporting someone who entered Coyote Buttes North without going through the process and getting a permit.
