Jerry said it best. GD is like black liquorish. You like it or you don't. And BTW Jerry's best was with Melvin IMO. I did see the Dead & the Quintet. Quintet was amazingly tight real quality show. GD was the greatest experience in my life. it changed me as a person. Opened my eyes in so many ways. The GD was an experience that goes beyond music way beyond comprehension. Shows today do not have the magic without Jerry. Sorry boys you both missed the ride. BTW I do not think you were to interruptive. I enjoyed the interview. Always loved the DG Quintet. Tony Rice was and Joe Craven is one of our favorites to see in Live Oak, Fl where everything is Suwanneelishious!

Complete train wreck of an interview. Another missed opportunity courtesy of the superficially knowledgable Jake Feinberg.

This was a good interview, I'm glad you brought up We'll be Together Again, that is one of my favorite jazz recordings as well. The two made another duo record a few years ago called We Are Together Again,it was okay, but it didn't have the same magic.

It is July 2024. There will be a soybean festival in Martin, TN come September. Sammy Kershaw is going to entertain. When I read that, it got me to thinking about one of favorite (and my dead Dad's) favorite fiddle players, Doug Kershaw. My Dad and Mom (both gone now) saw him perform and my Dad, a musician, singer and songwriter himself, raved about Kershaw's skills on the fiddle. Our house had every album and 45 record that had the name Doug Kershaw on it. I am glad he and Pam found each other. He is a better man for it. I hope to see him someday but it doesn't look like he has any shows booked.

I love the fact that my Mom and Dad were married during the time he’s speaking about. my mom and dad ( Vince Denham) were high school sweethearts who of course got married. My mom and dad even went to elementary school together! It seems a lot of people don’t realize that he was married before Sandy… who is absolutely amazing! Yet, I’m the first child he had. I was born in 1969, and I look so much like my father it’s ridiculous! I have red hair and freckles, but my eyes and nose are exactly the same and my dad and I even laughed the same way. ❤😊

The interviewer is not very intelligent. He knows nothing about Lee's music - and doesn't seem interested in finding out anything about it. A wasted opportunity, one he will never have again.

I'm listening to "This Place To Be" right now incessantly. (Along with "Slow Heat" it's also my background soundtrack as I tear through Frank Herbert's Dune series for the umpteeth time.) Even though it's seemingly a simple drone or drift recording, there is so much going on inside that space it's absolutely ridiculous. Thanx for this interview. Steve is my favorite artist.
@frankhoulihanfh49724 күн бұрын
I, too love This Place To Be. I sleep to it, among other tracks, several nights a week. My first disc somehow got a large scratch and I found I had to replace it immediately. Slow Heat is delectable as well. Steve’s discography is thoroughly remarkable, and almost criminally undervalued. The man is a national treasure!

A true pioneer of the synth. He created a playing style that was truly innovative on an instrument that was just recently created. Jan didn't play a lot of Modular Moog, but if you want to hear Jan ripping it up on one listen to Horacee Arnold's "Tales of the Exonerated Flea" (1974) an incredible album with a lot of great musicians including John Abercrombie. There's one track, Euroaquilo Silence, with just drums and synth and Jan is creating some otherworldly sounds on the Modular Moog, see link below. The photo for this video was taken from that album cover. I love Jan's expression. Link to Euroaquilo Silence: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m89oYKtkva3enGQ.html

Touch was awe-inspiring. My roommate in college introduced the album to me in 1981 and I was hooked. To call it "smooth jazz" is an insult to the unique, ground breaking sound that John achieved. I wish more people can be exposed to this music, so make it available on Spotify John!
