On Freddy Kings version of this song, you can hear Leon playing. Is simple but brilliant.

The Tulsa trio of JJ, Leon and Carl Radle on bass making some good vibes as they always did. All part of the fantastic Tulsa sound. Clapton would come into town along with George Harrison during Church Studio to jam with them and even hit some Tulsa music hotspots, at times sitting in with the band. Great times in Tulsa during the '70's.

I lived near Tulsa for 9 years & they have more GR8 bands playing in bars than most cities have visit! Oklahoma is a GR8 place for music lovers! Also saw Leon at the Kinetic Playground in Chitcago when he was with Joe Cocker & the Grease Band, early 70s..

Turn JJ's mike up a wee bit! I know he sings in a low key manner, but he's completely drowned out here. I love his voice too much to not be able to hear it! Still great to watch anyway. Thanks ❤

Just gotta love both of these guys! Can’t help but hear that great JJ Cale rhythm guitar all the way through! The vocals are a bit sketchy but no fakery here just old analog performance 🤷🏼♀️

This is the loosest tight groove I've heard in ages. It just locks together from start to finish & who better to serve it up than JJ Cale & Leon Russell. Two of the hottest audio cooks in music. No wonder that every muso of worth & talent, including Eric Clapton wanted to jam with them. Just check out the musos they connected with. Enough to make the dead arise & boogie. ❤

What’s the guy in the rainbow bowling jacket left of Leon’s role in the band, is hey playing a clav or a Hammond b3 or is he like a dj/mixologist that’s cue’ng up lo-fi auxiliary sonic loops for white noise/depth? Also who’s on bass is it Carl Radle?? Thanks y’all livin on Tulsa time in the blue ridge

Wonder if anybody remembers who wrote this song? It wasn't Freddy King - although he did a great performance of it. It was Don Nix, a songwriter from Memphis, and it is one of his biggest compositions.
@petermcculloch49332 жыл бұрын
Don Nix recorded a lot of great country style gospel music too
@GLD-hopeful2 жыл бұрын
Don wrote this song after he fell out of a story window! He fell asleep sitting near it (open). He tells the details in his book.
