Barefoot shoes can be a very good addition, but they can also be harmful, especially for the intervertebral discs. The prerequisite is good posture and the right gait. Because many people wear conventional shoes with thick, soft soles, they first step on their heel. There is a good exercise to understand why this gait is harmful, especially when walking barefoot. Cover both ears with one finger and walk a few steps barefoot on hard ground. With every step you will feel a shock that runs through your entire body. Then repeat the exercise, but step on the front foot and roll your foot slightly. You will quickly notice why it is important to use the correct gait when running barefoot. It requires practice at the beginning, especially rolling slightly after stepping on it and it may seem strange to walk in this way, but it is the natural form of walking. I can speak from experience. Because in my 20s I had significant problems in my lower back, had flat feet and couldn't jog for 10 minutes without getting severe cramps in my calves. I went to different orthopedists and they all prescribed shoe inserts for me. It didn't help because shoe insoles don't solve the problem, they just hide it. It's nothing more than crutches on your feet. After I swapped my shoes for shoes with a straight, thinner sole, worked on my posture and essentially re-taught myself how to walk, the problems gradually disappeared. Today I have a normal arch under my foot again and no more back pain. Many parents buy these baby sneakers for their children who are just learning to walk. I think that's wrong, because small feet are still developing and need to build up appropriate muscles. I believe that it is one of the reasons why so many people walks wrong and get into trouble sooner or later. I've never worn barefoot shoes myself, but I want to buy some now because it just feels good to feel the ground under your feet. Best regards from Germany

The bottom line is, unless your an idiot, and that's most of humanity, transitioning to barefoot properly is just obvious and just what you do. Unfortunately, almost everyone is a hopeless idiot. The "lies" of the barefoot industry changed my life for the better, forever.

In case you need to hear it, this absolutely changes how I perceived you and this channel. I found your videos in my search for functional fitness tips to improve my hikes, and I really enjoy your videos on that topic. However, I kept seeing gear review videos pop up on your channel and I began to think, “wow, this guy takes fitness AND gear very seriously. I’m not looking to become a professional mountaineer and I hardly care about gear. Maybe his content is more advanced than what I’m looking for.” Then I pretty much stopped clicking on your videos until this one. It seems like I got the wrong idea about you, and I’m glad I saw this video title and decided to watch it. Now I’m looking forward to watching you flesh out this new direction in your future videos. Good luck, and props for being honest with yourself and your viewers.

Head loaded meaning a weight on the head like African carry style? That kind makes sense in terms of gaining a sense of length in the spine through feedback. I have a qi gong inspired routine I may share here soon. Be gentle with your feedback on that one 😂
@HealingisfreeКүн бұрын
@@ChaseMountains my brother, I am so glad to hear you will share qi gong soon. And fret not, these are some of the most natural things we do as beings of this life force…dogs, horses, lions, all these are our best qi gong teachers, along with trees, and the rest of nature. Just be and feel as you flow through it breath, and I am sure it will be beautiful and well-received. All your content I have seen so far is great, and thanks for all you do. If you ever want to discuss headloading, which I think I may actually be the first/only person (at least contemporary) who has figured this out yet…truly a development of inner genius over years doing bodywork, qi gong and dealing with my own body pain experiences (esp severe wisdom teeth pain which really started this headloading for me, I think, about 2.5 yrs ago). And, now I am ready to say that, if this is not the single greatest full body/mind movement method in the world…I am open to learning what is superior to headloaded movements, and wonder if by adding headloading to other modes would take them all to the next level…some movements won’t work, but many do. Yes, this headloading concept means placing weight (I started with #20 medicine ball, and rec starting w less for most people) directly on crown of head…simply expand into wuji posture…send ball up to heaven…erect spine, reducing all curves…root down thru feet with weight assisting from top of head all the way down… Standing headloaded and shaking like a dog aka trembling horse qi gong move is a great way to start headloading..simply stacking all the bones w headload and purging breath. But, if there is any one key, it is purging breath, horse, lion or other, fully exhaling open mouth before inhaling silently into nose. Benefits I have experienced myself in 2.5yrs, mostly the past 6 months doing more and more: 1) improved situation w jaw, tmj, etc…wisdom teeth feel GREAT now..zero pain, very strong 2) Sinuses way way clearer 3) I have grown an inch!! I am over 40… 4) Much stronger joints, tendons and ripped muscles, esp around neck and shoulders..but injury bulletproofed head to toe 5) It looks like I found a fountain of youth…and more I would love to discuss all of this w you one day Chase! Love to have you intro this to your audience if you dig it, and you can help me develop this, I am in research phase, and want lots of people starting out slow and helping me build universal protocols. You can submit the form at my website and I’ll get right back to you or lmk how to contact you to schedule a chat! Til then, thanks for all you do brother Chase ☯️🌞❤️

@@ChaseMountains yes, exactly! I just typed out a long reply but apparently it didn’t post…but I would love to connect w you about this, and at least chat privately or ideally on a live. Qi Gong and headloading posture correction, and all the stuff you are about, it all fits together. And that is great news that you are putting out some qi gong, that is great, and fret not bc you are a developing master on your path and any doubt you have about you doing qi gong and it being good enough is just in your head. Be that dog shaking off the water, the trembling horse, and lion, and know that you can’t help but do qi gong when you be your self in the most natural ways.

Title and thumbnail are kind of clickbait. The tone and message of this are way different than how the video presents itself with thumbnail and title. However, I will say that I don't like the message of the title and thumbnail. It makes it seem like it's out to expose some intentionally hidden maliciousness. But in reality, this video is more like a public service announcement" "are you considering barefoot shoes? Be sure they're right for you and transition into them slowly. Here's some details." Now that's a much more helpful, proper message than anything else.

for me, the transition to the minimalist shoes for running is pretty easy because i was wearing slippers since i was a baby. we used to play football barefoot when we were child and still playing table tennis barefoot. In my country even if you walk barefoot no one will look strangely to you. barefoot is very common in my country.

Absolutely. As someone who is dealing with an arthritic big toe, which had become totally rigid, I became aware of how much the ability to bend toes affects the ability to walk naturally and pain-free. Several months of chiropracty and physio, and I can walk for distances again. However, I exercise and stretch my feet daily. Give your toes the love they need, and they'll quietly keep you mobile and active.

the technique mentioned 28 minutes in, about walking with more torso rotation as leverage, may work fine for those with mobile hips, but those with skeletally stiffer hips will tend to drive that movement up into the lumbar spine and may cause low back issues. Something to also look out for when selecting an elliptical machine for cardio. If you lack hip mobility, monitor whether you develop low back issues and perhaps select a different form of cardio.

I dont think you understand the shifting of the oxy-haemaglobin dissociation curve at all. You need low CO2 concentrations in the lung to increase the oxygen affinity of haemoglobin. High CO2 will be present at the muscle to drive unloading of oxygen no matter how you're breathing.

I've been high fat and low/zero carb for almost two years and I don't feel hunger the way I did when I was eating carbs. What I thought was hunger my whole life was just carb withdrawal. Now I feel it in my muscles and brain when I need to eat. And because I know fat energy takes about 2 hours to kick in for me, I generally eat before I'm hungry and then I never get hungry and don't have any energy dips. However if I push myself physically hard and I can feel I've fully depleted my glycogen, if I eat carbs it's like an instant reset and my body actually knows how to use them. Whereas when I was regularly carb eating no matter what my situation carbs hit me like a brick. Also almost all my health issues are gone. 🥩 Rx 🧈 ⚡

Can't say enough good about the BeFree. I was hiking the Uinta Highline Trail in Utah a few years ago, and it was my first time using the BeFree in earnest. The initial 50k of the trail is pretty dry, with only one absolutely reliable source. I was being lazy about carrying a lot of water, so I misjudged how hot the day was going to get and how much I was going to sweat. By three in the afternoon I'd done 35k and was completely through my 2L of water. The few streams I'd found on my map turned out to be dry. I was getting desperate and then I came across a small muddy puddle in the middle of the forest road I was following. Surround by cow parties. Well, with a bit of pre-filteting through my buff, The BeFree took that filthy water like a champ and produced a stream of crystal clear drinking water. I filtered a litre and drank it, then two more to carry. The bad water clogged it a bit, and the flow rate wasn't as good as it had been, but I didn't get sick or dehydrated, so 10/10. I usually stick it in my day pack as well, since it's so light and useful.
