Folks, you have a typo in your URL in the show notes. Missing a dot after the www. Also, I hope your website is under construction? Because otherwise you need to have A Little Talk with your web admin, because it's coming up mostly blank, & the few links that are there don't appear to work?

If i won the lottery - that billion dollar lottery - i would buy every nurse and paramedic in the United States a unit with a handful of batteries and filters. It makes me ill to think they charge doctor prices for equipment that saves the lives of the medical workforce - Our unsung and abused heros mind you, so much damn money for something that should cost half at best what they charge. If it was not for nurses and paramedics, i would not have much of a family left. I would still be in their debt if I was able to provide this equipment.

What do you mean restock? Only thing that needs replacement occasionally are the filters

Every angel deserves a Halo...LOL. Yet u won't sell them at a reasonable price to an individual nurse. I've tried. Only thru the hospital, when they buy a bunch for the staff...& if they won't, well then the "angels" can't buy one on their own. They make this same exact style for industrial use, black instead of white, sell them to individuals, about $500. I'd buy a Halo today if they'd sell me one for about that price...I've had about enough of regular masks, hot, sweaty, snotty, hard to breathe. Nurses r getting hard to come by & this is going to exacerbate this problem.

Both units, the cheaper and more expensive, use the same filters and same masks. An exhalation filter is also available. It would appear the cheaper one is a bit bulkier but should work in a healthcare setting the same. Fisher Scientific has them in stock and anyone can buy the cheaper model,...it appears. Go for it and let us know how it turns out.

They have a filter that attaches to the mask for source control. Otherwise you can use regular PPE over the mask

This devices contains one fundamental conceptual error: expiration goes directly (almost as a jet) in room air. Hence, a contaminated care giver becomes a potential super spreader.

No fundamental error. Not intended for virus protection though it will accomplish the task. PPE was designed for protection of the user and not others just like any other PPE.

They have a filter that connects to the mask for source control. All other regular PPE (surgical mask etc) can be worn over the mask

Not to protect the patients. They are already sick Walt! Duh, its to protect the people saving the ill patients. Your common sense is suffering from numerous fundamental conceptual errors. Its referred to in my industry as an ID10T error.

Careful here. This is NOT safe for healthcare! They do NOT filter the air flowing out of the device and, if the user is an asymptomatic COVID patient you have just created a massive aerosol generator to spread to everyone around the user. Check with your hospital, but the answer (if they are paying attention) will be NO.

I am paramedic in usa and called cleanspace. They told me they only are selling to people who need it. I GUESS paramedic doesn't qualify.

Which means it is expensive. On the fishersci website they sell replacement parts for this mask. The main system with the filter is $1k USD. The head harness is $60. The person you talked to most likely knew that a lone paramedic would not be able to afford one, let alone the minimum purchase required to get one.

I think what they mean is that they don't want "unqualified" people getting around with an incorrectly fitted mask thinking they are safe. I'm sure there would be a way to obtain one if you explain you are a paramedic and then do the free fit testing and training they provide.

They designed these units for the Healthcare professional rather than the protection of the patient or individual as every user needs training. Maybe in the future they will design a 'for personal use' model? When I check on the net, I see they are around the same cost as their competitors

I would love to get one of these for the coronavirus since i have COPD and asthma. I know if i get the Virus i have a bad chance of making it. But they cost so much, I am disabled on SSDI i get 900 a month. Just wish there was a way to get one from you all. It would sure ease my mind when i have to go into stores or doctor offices.

The downside is you still needing to stockpile the filter, and extra battery.

From the design it looks like the battery is non removable and its charges by plugging into the unit. So if the battery is flat you can't change out and need to wait till the integrated one is charged up.

Not necessarily true, filters last several months, Versaflo PAPRs almost a year in healthcare settings
