It's basically an opposite sequential. The common sequential gearbox doesn't need a clutch to shift, but needs a clutch to avoid stalling. It also shifts up by pulling, and shifts down when pushing.

It's so weird seeing a hand activated sequential shifter work backwards like a motorcycle foot shifter instead of the sequential shifters they put in race cars (where forward is a downshift and back is an upshift).

Well, no. A normal clutch works by springs that push the pressure plate against the clutch disc, which then presses against the flywheel. This locks the engine to the transmission input shaft, causing them to spin at the same speed. This is a centrifugal clutch that works when the engine starts rotating, the centrifugal force causes the brake shoes to move outward, connecting the friction lining to the drum's inner surface and starting its motion. The drum, weights, and center shaft then become a single spinning unit due to friction. When engine speed decreases, the springs pull the friction elements apart, disengaging the clutch. But that thanks for playing anyways.

Dam right. A gypsy woman told me I would go at the hands of a traveling circus clown who recently found religion, and drives around in an icecream truck to loudly proclaim his salvation from the legion of doom through his lord and savior, Superman. This causes me to have extensive hearing damage that prevents me from hearing my popcorn being overcooked in the microwave causing a small fire. When I go to the hospital for a minor burn on my hand, they accidentally give me a large dose of viagra instead of IBPROFIN. This makes me so distracted when leaving the hospital trying to tuck my erection into my wastband that I don't see the oil spill in the parking lot, slipping and hitting my head on the side of a wall......anyways, I'm keeping a keen eye out for clowns these days.
