I noticed you were wearing glasses when you were shooting the traditional bow. Could you please tell me how you prevent the bowstring from hitting your eyeglass frame? Did your bowstring hit your glasses frame before? Thank you.
@gunshyarchery23 сағат бұрын
@@matthewyu3531 I don’t draw back as far as you I’m assuming. And I’m shooting a 56” bow, so sharp string angle probably helps. I’ve tried anchoring farther back but it hits my glasses. So I can’t.

Does luring the animal not beat the purpose of hunting?
@gunshyarchery12 күн бұрын
Well, if you mean baiting the bears to make it more effective for population control then yes. Saskatchewan has such thick brush in the forest there is little to no chance of spot and stalk like in British Colombia where it is open country. And in BC you are not allowed to bait. Bait makes it easier to judge animals and puts them in good positions for an ethical shot. Everything hunts where animals are lured to... crocs on a river eat animals going for a drink. As do lions, leopards and pretty much any predator. Bears in Saskatchewan hang around where the elk and moose have their babies. So to help the elk and moose, we need to bait to take care of some of the other predators in the area.

Love the videos, I am from Ontario and wish to do the same. I was wondering if you ever thought of using an inflatable kayak from NRS (Same material as their rafts often used for fishing and hunting in PNW)like the Pike? takes less effort to paddle and quiet.
@gunshyarchery17 күн бұрын
I have only tried this kayak for shooting out of. It is not as easy as you see on tv 😂 As the boat, canoe, kayak, raft, they all shift as you draw your bow. So you do need to practice. These kayaks I need to be onto my knees, in the video the bear heard me paddling in and also when I was shifting to kneel... but still super fun.

When you go bear hunting, do you carry a gun, or are you protected by another gunman? Why don't I see you carrying a gun? What would you do if a bear gets angry and charges at you?

I’ve got an Old Town Solo Sportsman that I use for a similar purpose when deer hunting. All of my stick bows pretty long and fairly difficult to shoot from the boat itself. So I wear my duck hunting waders stand beside the boat in the creek. Deer & pigs rarely ever look down into the creek.

Why do you prefer two blade vs three?
@gunshyarchery26 күн бұрын
I can have less than a perfect arrow tune and they fly better than a 3 blade. Also they penetrate better than having an extra blade to push. But that extra blade does give a better blood trail without question. I also like the fact that I do not have any blades in my line of sight when at full draw. I set them up 90 to the ground, so the blade is not in my thoughts at full draw.

You need to watch that video. It was a 4 minute stare down. Then he was walking away… he was coming towards us, spotted us, started to turn, then I stopped him. It’s happened all too often. They turn, walk a couple steps then bounce off. But yes. I would never stop a deer that’s not already onto me. 👍🏼

@gunshyarchery you need a paddle board with a bow stand! I always tell people compound bows are cheating in a way. Now that I'm in the trad life. There is a beauty that compound bows make everyone able to do archery, BUT alot is lost. Aluminum arrows and thunderheads, the good ol days lol
