I’m a ASU fan and we are not leaving for a Big 2 conference rn. We have to show consistency in sports. I will say though we do have inherent advantages that make us a better candidate than giving us credit for. The majority of BIG 12 schools can’t match. Top 5 metropolitan area One of the fastest growing cities in the country Top 5 largest school in country by enrollment One of the largest alumni networks AAU member At the end of the day, we have to win otherwise it’s a fruitless discussion.

As a Utah fan, I think their style of play matches the B1G more than the Big-12. However, they have a far greater chance of being successful in the Big-12. The B1G is BRUTAL now. Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and now they add Oregon, Washington, and USC! Sure, there's a few cupcakes. Every conference needs some losing teams. Big-12 is simply Utah's best chance for success right now.

Josh you say that academics don't matter but the Big 10, the richest conference, has taken 4 PAC-12 teams with AAU membership. Utah, Arizona and Arizona State have AAU membership too. Best believe if the Big 12 goes sideways, they're burnishing that to jump ship towards the Big 10.
@aCycloneSteve4 күн бұрын
The B1G is a great conference if you're into AAU in your sports program but if the B1G had wanted them, they could have invited them at any time. If the XII goes sideways it's unlikely the B1G will save anyone except MIA, FSU, UNC etc. They didn't save Stanford or Cal.
@CarlaJenkinsTV4 күн бұрын
I have some reasons why Utah would join the ACC. First,right now in 2024, the ACC has surpassed the Big 12 in payout money. Second,the ACC is getting 17% vs the Big 12 15% in the 2026 playoff expansion. Third, the Big 12 is the only Power 4 without a playoff championship contributing to the playoff expansion disparity. Fourth, Utah is traveling to West Virginia which is on the Atlantic Ocean for the Big 12 so it's not a travel thing.
@aCycloneSteve4 күн бұрын
1. is that payout per school? 2. is that percentage higher per school? 3. true 4. WVU is the farthest east (except maybe UCF) Pitt is directly north of WVU & the closest of the classic ACC schools is Louisville
@orangetuono385 күн бұрын
Reviewed all the Win Totals vs their Match ups. For all the reasons Josh details Utah, Arizona, KState, KU, WVU all have O/U's that are hard to pick. Rest of the Big 12 is simply too unknown. OState was the only "easy money" bet. Line is weakening so get your money down before it slips to 8.5.

It’s about brands. What brand matchups generate the biggest paydays. Markets don’t matter bc everything is moving to streaming. Academic fit doesn’t matter much either. FSU is going to the Big 10. SEC doesn’t want them, and there’s bad blood w ESPN after playoff snub. UNC to the BIG. ND stays Indy. Clemson and VaTech to the SEC. Miami, Pitt, Louisville and Virginia to the Big 12. But don’t be surprised if the Big 10 boots Rutgers and Maryland to make room for UVA and Duke.

KU has the best chance of going undefeated just because of schedule - easiest. At manhattan will be tough, but ISU is at home, well actually neutral site in Arrowhead. That should be a wild wild game. Not buying the WVU we’re back concept after just one season with an easy schedule. With the huge conferences becoming the norm, watch for more talk (?whining?) about imbalanced schedules.

Going undefeated during the season doesn't mean that team will win the B12 championship. You have to win the championship game. Two of Kansas State's B12 Championships were played against undefeated teams. And the teams K-State beat for the B12 FB Championship still went on to play in the National Championship game. The 2 teams were OU in 2003 and TCU in 2022. Last time I checked Utah and Kansas State are tied with the same odds to win the B12 at +350 each.

Big12 wishlist, if FSU, Clemson, Miami, VA Tech, Louisville, & Duke could somehow end up in the Big12 together it would forever change the landscape of conferences. It could significantly elevate the Big12 & finally put them on par with the SEC & Big10. The Big12 next media deal would be significantly more & make the Big12 more competitive in all sports. But that would be a dream scenario. Those schools in the Big12 along with new & current members could create an alternate SEC style conference.
