To greenmarine5 it’s “have” not “of” and the Vmax 1200 is carbureted, not injected.

Just got a 1995 Max here in Scotland, Japanese import, bike is absolutely mint and original (except drilled out stock cans) but V Boost not working, got power to controller but no power out, put power to the servo motor and that's also dead, got a new (used) servo and controller on the way (£220 ouch) so hopefully will have it fixed, bike is amazing though, love it already (even without the boost)

Ive had three of these beasts, dont bike anymore, got goosies watching this... Sounds and feels like im on it again... I added a screen as the wind is just to much over 130km/hr... lifts my helmet. All of mine never got over 200km/hr though, all standard with V boost.

Back then, I also bought a 2003 V-Boost because I liked its timeless design, the legend, and the sound of the engine. For me, the limit was 130 km/h. Beyond that, it became too windy and uncomfortable. I even pushed it to 200 km/h once to test the V-Boost, but at that speed, I rolled off the throttle and returned to my comfortable cruising speed. The Max could have gone faster, but not with me. I leave it to others if they want to go faster. I prefer cruising and enjoying the engine’s sound. Due to health reasons, I no longer ride motorcycles.

My dad told me stories about his old vmax, how it would “pull the front wheel in every gear, I once raced your brother on his gixxer 750 and we were side by side but my front wheel stayed a foot in the air up until a buck ten, then I let off.” We had a debate on whether or not it could compete with modern liter bikes since he was so adamant it is the fastest motorcycle ecer, he said “it would SMOKE an R1”, seeing these riding videos and pulls it doesn’t look any faster than my 600. And my 600 feels slow AF for a sportbike, I’m honestly disappointed in these things. Not to mention it’s 600 lbs and only has like 110 horsepower? When his new “fully built” vmax he just bought gets out of the shop I’ll ride it and judge for myself if it’s any faster than my FZ6R, until then I think my dad is crazy

Depends I guess on where you're comparing. I had a 2016 KTM Superduke 1290r - and I now also have a 2006 Vmax 1200. I would say with the same rider (me) the Vmax will hook up better, and keep the front wheel down up until 100kph, and it'll beat the Superduke up until that point. Once the superduke can actually not try and do a backflip - it'll make all the distance back up. They're two completely different bikes - and behave completely different. The difference is where the power is on the motor. The Vmax pulls from idle - import 4 cylinders typically don't reach any significant power until the top end (Where their power band is). So until a 600 or 750 can actually get their feet on the ground and get moving - the Vmax will have it. Remember: Fast does not only mean "Top Speed"... How fast you get TO your top speed - is also very important.

I have a 1985 Vmax with 11,000 original miles. The production run number is 2131 and I found out any Vmax produced before 2500 was 100% balls to the wall full power. After 2500 insurance companies forced Yamaha to tame her down. So mine is a crazy bitch.She is dark red metallic and in mint condition. I do all the work on her myself and I just installed new tires I did change the rear tire to a 170 because that fat back side looks good.

Owning and riding one as my first bike i can say has put the fear God into my eyes. Im 21 years old I used to ride atvs and dirt bikes back in high school with my buddies but those are toys compared to the vmax and it has tought me valuable lessons on respect and you sir need to keep her under 100 cause it dont stop for shit but pulling a quick 75 80 is ok but I think you're lacking respect for it.

Vboost normally kicks in at what 7000RPM, but there is a mod to have it kick in at 3000RPM. I never did the mod but it sounds crazy to do. I had 4 gen 1's all std with V boost and one that was changed into a tjopper style. it was crazy, 100km on 14L of fuel even if you drive calm. Sad I cant afford a gen 2...

Once you've made a few good videos you'll find that sometimes the experience is a lot more intense in real life than it comes across. I see your channel is fairly limited so that's understandable that you wouldn't recognize that

@@spikestrip346 ? what with my chanel?? man, that non sense... don't get it bad, there are plenty of video out there to see what is a bike that kick to compare, it's clear that when you overtake it's missing some HP. i owned two vmax 90 and 96, short and long shaft, maybe the one without vboost kicked even more than this one, many people get disapointed by this bike, because many got bike that suffered from age and are far from prime health, what you would realise with a perfect condition and tuned one (stock), something wrong with your for sur, maybe you re impressed because of short experience, but i m not, got over 20 years of bike, i m used to see what kick and what miss to, maybe video don't speak enought, but in traffic it's evidence. i m sorry bro, my words were to rude, my apologizes, i ll mind to not go this way again, i know you enjoy this bike and im happy for you, ride safe.

I was lucky enough to buy a VMax for $2000 when I was 16 in high school. I still have it and that thing is a drift factory. I can powerslide thru first gear, grab second and it'll pull up the front wheel up as it catches traction..

I agree with that comment as well except I would only add does the person have the writing skills necessary to do what it takes at the speeds that get over 100 mph if he does so be it if he doesn't he shall not try or at least he shouldn't

I bought one of the first V-Max’s in the US back in 1985 - first thing I did was drop it off at Terry & Byron’s shop up on Sepulveda Blvd across from the Del Amo Mall up in Torrance, CA. You know, Vance & Hines, they did some pretty awesome mods to my bike and had a former Navy buddy of mine who was a Los Angeles County Sherriff clock me on his radar for three passes up on an I-15 frontage road heading to Vegas. Three passes and I hit 186 on two of them. There was still a little oomph left but I was experiencing some front wheel wobble because of my mirrors not being perfectly symmetrical on the handlebars. I’m sure with another run or two I could’ve had it over 190, but I was out of fuel! Anyway, these are Absolute BEASTS and I love seeing them out on the road still. Mad Max!!
@sjuozhunki

Terry and Byron did a chain drive conversion?--in fact I do know they didn't so with a driveshaft you couldn't get faster than 152mph.
