Hello Elnur, sorry for the delay... I got a large more because I wanted to layer up underneath... I got a medium in version 1.0 and it fit perfectly but more form fitting and it was too tight to wear a fleece under it. The large makes it comfortable to layer up. I am 5'6" and about 180lbs with about a 33" waist if that helps. It is my "go to jacket" for just about everything except the summer.

Deceitful Business Practices and Lies at Apricoat Nov 10, 2021 - Coat ordered from Apricoat with 3-5 day delivery Nov 18, 2021 - Apricoat support says "Two weeks"! Dec 25, 2021 - Christmas gift missed Dec 28, 2021 - Coat delivered. Dozens of defects, stains, poor sewing, mismatched cloth panel sizes, uneven seams. I ask for a refund. Jan 6, 2022 - Maurice from "Apricoat Support" tells me that as soon as I close my Problem Case at PayPal, they will issue a refund. Jan 11, 2022 - PayPal closes case and reverses the temporary refund I received Jan 12, 2022 - Send Maurice proof of case closed. Maurice says it's still open (a lie). Jan 23, 2022 - Apricoat (Maurice) still says case is open (another lie). Promises 24 hour resolution Jan 25, 2022 - I have to follow-up, of course. Maurice says Case is still open. The third lie from this liar. I have filed an FTC case, and a fraud complaint with the Delaware State Attorney General. It's my opinion that based on my experiences, folks should look elsewhere for a coat.

Hey Peter! Just wanted to ask a couple of questions myself. They're not really "make it or break it" but I'd still like to ask them. 1. Do you have to wear the built-in gloves or is there a way to wear the jacket but not wear the gloves? I have my own pair that I'd like to wear that's why, so I'm hoping that the built in gloves won't interferer with them. 2. What temperatures do you find this jacket most suitable in? By extension, what's the coldest and hottest temperature that you recommend for this jacket? I'd like to know how low the temperature has to get before layering up.
@PeterFujiwara
@PeterFujiwara 2 жыл бұрын
@@foxnakh I know what you mean about the tighter fit. I got a medium in the version one and it was fine if I just had a base layer on but too tight if I started layering so I got the larger in version 2 and passed the version 1 onto my son. I am from the Toronto Canada area so am definitely used to colder weather in the winter so I find this jacket warm enough to 10 C as it really keeps you warm, should be perfect for the Taiwanese winters. It is one of the best jackets I have for rain other than my dedicated rain coat but since rain coats don't breathe I only wear it in summer down pours. For fall and spring rain I always wear the apricoat. Good luck with the exchange, I know its a pain but I hope you like the jacket in the end as much as I do.

Pretty true to size? Do their jackets fit larger for layering? Or better to size up?
@PeterFujiwara
@PeterFujiwara 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Guncleana, sorry for the delay in responding, these jackets are true to size so if you plan to layer then definitely a size up. My version one was a medium, I am 5'6" 40" chest, 32" waist, fit perfectly with a t-shirt or long sleeve shirt. I got the version 2 in large which gave me the option to where a t-shirt, with a fleece and/or down pullover. Hope this helps... I also got the Apricoat Down which is also great.

Hello SwissFrames, it is an excellent rain jacket that retains its water resistant qualities even after machine washing... simply excellent but it is definitely too warm for hot weather (>26 degrees Celsius)... it is great in warm to cool to cold weather...

The reflector was a nice touch. One of the dumb things is that we all wear dark in the winter - when it is hardest to see us. I bought the black-yellow one for that reason. The ability to hide it away too - brilliant. The sack was smart because it is a travel jacket and all the other ones we want are packable. Thank you for pointing out the reflective material to increase warmth without weight.

Thanks for the comment Gwen, I agree the reflector arm band and stowaway is a very welcome design. Black and yellow was a great choice... I was looking at that one too but opted for the all black in the end. I also had a chance to try out the jacket 2 days ago when the temperature tipped to the freezing point... it not only performed well in terms of warmth but the venting in the back and arms was excellent... will be something I look for in all my jackets now. I love the stuff sack but never thought about it for packing when I travel... it is ideal, thanks for pointing it out. Enjoy your jacket 😃

Thank you for an awesome and thorough review! My 14 year old North Face Summit series has served me well but is losing the down feathers. I am seeking a new more travel centric winter jacket. So far it is between the Scottevest Revolution Plus 2.0 vs. Apricoat Down. The reflective arm band looks like a winner for me. ( I put reflective tape on the North Face for those late night dog walks.) Thank you for also disclosing your size. I'm 5"5" 165 41" chest. I think I would go for the medium as I only wear a base layer during flights.

You are very welcome Michael, you won’t be disappointed with the jacket. I have also purchased ScotteVests in the past both winter and fall… I am retaining my vest but the jackets have been given away now. The biggest difference for me was the weight… the Apricoats are so much lighter and just seem to carry the weight of the jacket with filled pockets better. Enjoy the jacket 👍🏼

Thanks for the comment and the amazing jacket Alon, I realized I forgot the armpit ventilation after shooting and editing a bit... so I put a lower third indicating that I did forget it... not as good as showing it but at least it's mentioned. I will make sure I highlight it in the follow-up review in the winter.

Do they size similar to North Face and or Patagonia?
@PeterFujiwara
@PeterFujiwara 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, I can't honestly say since I don't own a similar North Face or Patagonia... I generally wear a medium but opted for a large because I wanted to wear a sweater under my Apricoat... I did the same for my Apricoat Down getting a large as well and they are the perfect fit for me... I am 5'6" with a 33" waist and about a 40" chest if that helps.

Hi Peter, can you please tell me your thoughts since a few years have passed? I’m in the market for a tripod. I shoot mainly landscapes but I’m 5’9 and worried this one might be more of a hassle than I’m prepared for. Are you glad you went with the 34L or looking back do you think you should have gone with a shorter model? I’ve been researching these for the last 3 weeks and am narrowed down to this or the 33. I think I want this but the height worries me a little. I’d really appreciate your input on this.
@PeterFujiwara
@PeterFujiwara 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, I am definitely still happy with my purchase, Really Right Stuff is truly the gold standard in terms of quality of construction. It has functioned flawlessly for everything I have used it for. I especially like the fact that I got the dovetail quick release on the levelling base so I can switch out the ball head for my video heads. In terms of size, it is clearly a choice to get such a hefty tripod. I have packed it with me for shorter 10-20 km hikes and it is noticeable… I make sure I wear good hiking boots if I am carrying it along with a lot of L-series glass, a couple of camera bodies and my drone. Would I change my mind now… for hiking I would like it a little shorter but I want the weight even when I hang my pack from the centre hook, it just feels better. So no I wouldn’t change my mind. When I shoot from my car… that is if I can setup close to my car, its a no brainer, definitely get it. Shooting studio work, its a definite yes too… I ended up getting the TQC-14 for travel, just easier to pack on a plane, but still the same incredible build quality of the TVC34L.I still own other tripods but I really should sell them since I really only use my RRS gear and when I am packing super light I take my Peak Design carbon tripod… nowhere near as solid as the RRS but for the size and weight its great. Hope this answer helps, the choice is really based how what you plan to do with it and how far you plan to carry it. Let me know what you decide 👍🏼

Great, thank you for the reply! I think I’m sold on it. Most of my photography is within a mile of my vehicle so I wasn’t concerned with the weight as much as the height! At full extension I don’t think I’ll be able to see the bubble on my leveling base for panos but I suppose in those instances I just don’t extend it all the way! Thank you again for the reply and for posting the videos in the first place.

How does the quality of the Apricoat compare to ScottEVest?
@PeterFujiwara

Hi Jacob, in terms of workmanship they are equal which means excellent, but I like the materials and design of the Apricoat better, specifically the zippers, hood and built-in sleeves... pockets are better too in my opinion.

How does it actually compare in cold weather to something like a fleece? Is it actually warm enough to be worn without some sort of thermal shirt
@PeterFujiwara
@PeterFujiwara 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Komma, its a relative comparison... I was expecting an outer layer when I got it so it was way warmer than I expected, however when it gets cooler you do need more than a base layer... its nice to layer up as the temperature changes.

how do i make all the fruits and vegetables into one picture?
@PeterFujiwara
@PeterFujiwara 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, if you want to put all the fruits and vegetables into a single picture simply save it as a JPEG and it will merge all the layers into a single image. Make sure you first save it as a photoshop file .PSD format so you have a file that will retain all the layers just in case you want to edit it.
