Chiang mai has nice food and ultra friendly people BUT the cons are dirty air, no good infrastructure so nowhere to walk, rats and cockroaches everywhere and last but not least - just do yourself and don't go there in the summer if you can't take hot weather.... Hi, local and a locksmith here, yes it's fairly safe. Even though I see there's a lot of break in into mostly businesses not only in Vancouver also around, and yes, you feel safe to walk outside way more than other American medium-sized cities that's for sure. I'm also lives here more than 2 years I have to say that it's nice that you can see all four seasons. Thanks for the video
