It's so nice to listen to someone who knows how to do narration properly and without the use of intrusive background music.

Thank you so much! I’m a bit hard of hearing to be honest, and I find background music makes it’s more difficult for me to hear what’s being said on videos xxxx

Watching an episode of Department S tonight 26/06/2024 on Retro Tv I spied the great Alan Lake on this programme(I had a thing for Rosemary Nichols growing up)he played a great villain.Though the main villain looked very like Micheal Rennie!!!
@BeautifulBadandBizarre3 күн бұрын
Oh that's a name I haven't heard for a while Rosemary Nichols - she was gorgeous! Ah, Alan was great, he had some brilliant reviews when he worked on the stage too, his career rather gets lost in the shadow of Diana! xxxx

She was always wonderful paired with Benny Hill, some of his funniest stuff is just those two together in sketches. Benny clearly respected her very much, as he let her out of our contract of the show so she could do 'Edna The Inebriate Woman', Patricia later payed him back by making a special guest appearance 9 years later on the show.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful insight! Patricia Hayes and Benny Hill indeed had a special chemistry that brought out some of the funniest moments on screen. It's so lovely to hear about Benny Hill's respect for Patricia, allowing her to pursue 'Edna The Inebriate Woman,' and her return to the show later on. They truly made a memorable duo. xxxx

Beautiful tribute. It's 40 years ago today 24/6/24/ that Tommy Godfrey passed away. The previous month he attended Diana dors funeral. Tommy was another of my favourites. Including diana's very talented husband Alan lake❤ there legend lives on .

Tommy Godfrey was absolutely marvellous! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and reminder of Tommy! I was at Sunningdale on Sunday with flowers for Diana and Alan, it was a beautiful day there and I agree, their legends certainly live on xxxx

Me and my family loved watching his show on a Saturday. Although only around 12-13 years of age, his comedy really filled the generation gap like so many did during that golden era of British TV. As much as I'd love to see repeats of his show on British TV, you know that as well as heavily editing the sketches, they'd also have a stupid warning about so called 'prevailing attitudes' or some other nonsense. His brand of comedy is too good to be diluted and to be snipped and cut just to suit so called 'modern' tastes and oddball attitudes.

Thank you so much for sharing your memories! Dick Emery's show was indeed a staple of Saturday night TV, and it's wonderful to hear how his comedy bridged the generation gap in your family, exactly the same as mine! I understand your concerns about potential edits and warnings if his shows were to be aired today and I fully agree it's absolutely stupid! Comedy from that era had a unique charm that resonates with many of us. It's important to appreciate these shows in their original context, they reflect the social and cultural attitudes of their time, and it's just so sad that in entertainment and other creative forms we can't have the freedoms we had then. I also agree, let's cherish the fond memories and enjoy the timeless humour of Dick Emery's work! xxxx

A wonderfully edited video. Love Stanley, by the way.

Thank you so much! Stanley was wonderful, it was years before I realised that my grandad, who recited wonderful monologues to me, was actually giving me lessons in Stanley Holloway performances, it wasn't until I was an adult that I realised my grandad's wonderful sayings and recitals were from Stanley! xxxxx

Hiya Shar, well the summer seems to be apon us. For how long we know not🤔😎🤠Tiz time to switch off the central heating, put our winter woolies in the draws. And embrace the new world. This for me means, start watching films made in glorious colour. I always feel like black and white is better on a cold dank day. Probably a Sunday. However, this is not the reason for the message. Just a quick reminder that i / well we are all here waiting for the next beautiful video about a star of long ago, maybe forgotten. Except for you. Can only hope your health is better than it has been and that you and yours are all good and ready to dance together in the sunshine and moonlight and get the call from Celebrity Come Dancing or if you're really going for gold :Dancing on Ice ❄️⛸️🥇🥈🥉. Love and best wishes Allan&Family xxxx

Hiya Allan, Thank you so much for your lovely message! It’s wonderful to hear from you as we embrace the arrival of summer. Switching off the central heating and tucking away the winter woolies definitely feels like a fresh start. I agree-there's something cozy about watching black-and-white films on a cold, damp day, but glorious color films are perfect for this season, I hadn't thought about it before but on reflection I think you're spot on! I really appreciate your patience and support. I'm working on getting back to making videos and sharing stories about the stars of yesteryear. Your encouragement means the world to me! Thankfully, my health is improving although it's at a slower rate than I was expecting (probably my age!) I'm not sure about all the dancing, never been my forte but I've always fancied having swing/jive/rock and roll lessons! Although, I'm definitely in the two left feet category! 🦶🦶 Sending love and best wishes to you and your family. xxxx Shar

Thanks for your comment! It’s great to hear from someone who’s also lived through the era of the Carry On movies and Sid James’ career. Sid definitely had a unique charm, even if the films weren't everyone's cup of tea. 😅 A bet on the GG's sounds like a lot of fun too! It was my grandparents favourite thing on a Saturday, I remember that well! ❤

Hobsons Choice is my favorite all time Comedy film but pipped ( literally) out of Top spot by another Sir John Mills classic Great Expectations. I watch both of these films at least a couple of times a year and now in my mid sixtie's, still find both to be delightful. R.I.P. Maggie Love.❤

Oh! GREAT EXPECTATIONS!!!! I absolutely adore that film, Valerie Hobson was brilliant in it too, but I'm sure that's when I first fell in love with Jean Simmons! Hearing the history of the people in your films from the time just before I was born or from when I was young gives me a physical feeling deep in my stomach, it's wonderful therapy, thank you for all the hard work you do in making your films.
