Very helpful video: thank you. Few points to note perhaps. When unpacking at a campsite, keep the bits together , close and out of the wind while using trangia. (Those tie-up things get lost ALL the time.) For those with long hair using the stove, it is helpful to remind them to tie back their hair before using a trangia. Location: the refuel area and fuel storage area should be distant and separate from the cooking area. Location for cooking: it’s advisable if possible, to keep one side of the cooking area against something like a barrier to prevent others walking through or across the cooking area.

Classic piece of kit! I've had mine for over 30 years and it's still going strong, including the original rubber ring on the inside of the screw lid. A few more tips: Rather waste the meths (burn it off or pour it out) after cooking, let the burner cool and simply screw on the burner rubber-sealed lid. The lid does indeed help heat things (water, soup, whatever) much quicker when over the pans, but the 'lid' is also a frying pan - just flip out the three 'pan rests' upward from the windshield, then the frying pan/lid sits on those - the only downside is the flame is much further away form the bottom surface of the frying pan, but that also helps not to have a small 'hot spot' when frying. The extinguishing/simmer lid is a bit of a faff to set to simmer (when wanting to heat soup/beans/etc.) without burning, but well worthwhile using as it 1) saves burning food, and 2) saves your meths. I always fill my burner 3/4 before each cooking session to minimise having to wait to cool then refill. I also refill my burner after using so it's ready for the next time. Slower than gas, but fuel available from so many places - brilliant kit!

There's ways and means to get these tents up and gown and keep the inner bone dry (even in nasty conditions). Put the frame and flysheet up and leave semi loose but guyed; and put up your inner from the inside. Then secure tent. To take down, do in reverse; loosen outer and take down inner and fold in the shelter of the flysheet; then take down flysheet and poles. Attach mushroom feet into their positions to give maximum strength.

From memory I think the new revised design is meant to have the tips of the poles through the grommets on the inners corners, old style had mushroom tips on the poles to go on the ground.... Anyway your pole position didnt look quite right

What have you done to that ridge pole? Its like a banana. I've had my Mk4 since the 70s and it is still straight. The entrance end of the tent is far too taught and as a result the zip cannot be closed properly. Also for a demo video make sure the tent pegs are straight......at least to begin with.

Thank you sir. I would have never thought twice about adding more meths into the burner if it ran out mid way through cooking. Bit of a numpty I know but still, the more you know as they say! So thank you again.

Great tents. Always clean the ground under the floor and feel for stones before final pegging inner tent. Rubber tap washers are good under and over the flysheet on the spikes.

I keep Tent clothes inside sleeping bag and compression strap the whole thing up, this still fits easily inside the lower compartment and saves that extra bag inside your main compartment. It also saves you carrying/opening one more dry bag.

Nothing like the practice expedition. In reality if you brought noodles you would be provided different food with nutrition ( if you have brought spare money to the dofe that is).
