My unit was incident and accident free for many years due to strict adherence to standards and procedures set forth by our experienced pilots. This incident should never have happened.

I used to live by an airport and the test plane had orange checkers on it and they would cut the engine off and make people land it. I was worried every time they flew over and did it

Yeah but who was holding the camera? You can see that they were panning it to show the canopy . And why shoot the pilot ? surely the view outside was more exciting to video. Looks like a set up. Probably the pilot was sitting up front and all she had to do was to pretend she was flying it.

She was lucky, the canopy could have had a catastrophic effect on the aerodynamics of the aircraft and bail out would have been the only option.
