@allensaunders3492 We discussed that prior to testing it this way. We had it running with the flange open and didn't observe any bubbles. As soon as the flange snapped back closed..all the bubbles.

If you can trade that thing for an engine, go for it. But it's been my experience with diesels that when the oil and the coolant mixed together it's probably the oil cooler. I just had to change mine on my 7.3 powerstroke for the same reason

I appreciate that info. However, I tested the oil cooler up to 95psi with air and sprayed soapy water on it for about half an hour and absolutely zero leaks.

I think those things have an oil pressure relief valve on the oil pump. I'd say to double check that, and then maybe check that the lifters aren't just blowing oil out of them.

@garywill6340Ай бұрын
After I watched the other video with the thicker oil, where the oil pressure went up to about 10 PSI, it definitely screamed oil pump. I'm glad you got that 4.0 up and running! Going to need some video evidence of this thing being a trail rated vehicle. Maybe bury it in mud?
@The_TylerАй бұрын
I personally hate mudding, but when I replace my front axle u joints, I'll take it down the creek by my house and take it down some trails. The rod bearings were more of a culprit for the oil pressure than the pump.

No oil pressure main and rod bearing clearance. Or sending unit or gauge. Feel the oil filter to see if it gets hot. Remove sending unit and start it for a few seconds catch it with a rag. Just sayin
@The_Tyler2 ай бұрын
UPDATE. I disconnected the coil wire and cranked it again, but this time for probably 30-40 seconds, and the gauge shot up to almost 20 just cranking. Guess I didn't have it primed well enough. I got my ignition timing off trying to double-check the oil pump. As soon as I get it timed, I'll do another video.
@jonpate46402 ай бұрын
Slap a manual guage in it and then check, takes like 5 min to hook one up to check pressure vs trusting the oem idiot guage, thise guages read good as long as it doesnt drop below like 5 psi. Give a manual pressure test a try before yanking the motor
@The_Tyler2 ай бұрын
I just pulled the manual gauge a previous owner installed because he didn't install a t for the factory sending unit. If it's below 5psi, the engine needs to come out anyway. I'll try priming it more, but it's not looking promising.
