I am vegetarian, but your meals looked so good.... could i just leave out the oyster sauce (i don't know what to replace it with) or will that make that make the food taste bland?
@taterthot674715 сағат бұрын
There’s vegan oyster sauce made from oyster mushrooms and it’s full of umami and super tasty! I’ve found it in every Asian grocery store next to the regular one 😊

I think you should say 'Korean recipe' instead of 'Asian' because there are 48 countries in Asia, and most countries don't eat like Koreans. Each country has its own cuisine and culture. It's not accurate to think of Korea as representing the entire continent of Asia. ( I'm from Asia but not Korean)
@reinenicholson84122 сағат бұрын
Koreans are Asians, and several countries DO eat foods similar to Korean food. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her saying the meals are Asian, because they are. They are Asian meals prepared by an Asian person. Arguing semantics brings nothing to the conversation and isn’t helpful.
@medhachakraborti561921 сағат бұрын
I agree actually. Korea is in the South-eastern part of Asia, and most of the ingredients she uses are more common in South East Asia - not so much in the other parts of Asia. As an Indian, if I made such a video, I'd probably use ingredients that are more common in South Asia (since that's where India lies), but if I called the video 'Asian recipes', I'd probably have confused viewers too. Not trying to be mean or send hate towards Deborah, but I think it's important to be sensitive and know + use these differences in phrasing when you have such a large & divers3 audience! :")

i dont think its disingenuous to call korean food asian since.... korea is in asia... even if it isn't representative of every single asian culture's food it still is recipes from asia
@okaymaddox12 сағат бұрын
@@medhachakraborti5619i don’t think korea is in southeast asia-

I dont really agree with you as Im watching this video. The first recipe was Hot Pot which is originally a chinese dish, with a variation of this dish in Vietnam and consumed by a lot of asian countries, including Korea. Im korean so I know that hot pot, even if it is largely consumed in Korea, its actually very different from the traditional korean stews (since its origin is from another country). The second dish was udon, which its part from the japanese cuisine, not korean. The third dish was Beef Pepper, which I never heard abt it, but judging from the ingredients and from the similar names, Im guessing its a variation of Pepper Steak or Black Pepper steak (Hei Jiao Niu Liu), a chinese dish. And lastly, she prepared a Rice Cooker Meal which basically consists of the main asian ingredients used for the asian cuisine in general. Bokchoy being a Chinese cabbage used mainly in Vietnamese, chinese and japanese cuisine and mushrooms, which are basically used in the whole continent of asia. So I dont think Dobochobo should change the title of this video to "Korean Recipes" since none of the dishes being prepared are korean and all of these recipes consists of a diverse range of asian ingredients, being accurate to its title.
