I owned a 68 firebird convertible and a new 81 Camaro in my 20s. Fast forward 30 years 3 sons and a great wife and I retired at 56 and treated myself to a lemans blue z51 05 corvette coupe with a 6 speed. Never lost my love of cars.

The algo’s fed me this episode of your channel and I really enjoyed it. Like you, I found cars in my teens, but moved from Camaros to of all things MGB’s because of their handling through the corners. Drive my first one in college from 77-81 and stored it until 2 years ago. Like you I was always into photography and film in high school and took a film class as an elective in my engineering program which lead to a couple of animated films. Retirement has allowed me to get back to both of those passions as I restore my MGB and chronical it on my KZfaq channel MaggiesMakeover. I recently purchased another one to drive as I restore the first one. I did get back to muscle cars two years ago when I purchased a 2023 HTC Corvette which I LOVE. Kind of feels like we are living parallel lives my friend!

Awesome, my friend! Love the enthusiasm around cars from all makes and models. You gotta subscriber in me :-) be sure to catch Episode 2 about the 2023 HTC, it just happens to be my nephew's car. Is that a Cobra I see sitting behind the MGB??
@MaggiesMakeover7210 күн бұрын
@@FullyVetted thanks…..just subsc ones to your channel and will definitely check out the the 2023 HTC episode. That is (was) indeed a Cobra! I am on an endurance racing team and am renting a space in the garage to restore my MGB. The Conra is owned by a teammate. It’s such an amazing car to drive…..feels like your strapped right on top of a big block engine! The owner recently sold it and out the money towards a boat of all things.
Just watched it and thanks for sharing. Always love to hear about C8s and how their owners approach owning them. When I bought mine, a friend put this video showed together about the car. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aqtid858kpfGlas.htmlsi=Mwsdv_TdT7_u2bpR

Not through 83.
@FullyVetted11 күн бұрын
Not exactly sure what you mean by not through 83. We were discussing the fiasco of how 83 didn't happen because of the late production start of the C4. There were however a dozen or so 1983 Corvettes that were used as test mules all but one of them got crushed so there is one remaining 1983 Corvette that is in the Corvette museum.

I worked with a Doctor Sharp in Michigan who owned a 54 in this color. He had bought it used. He traded it in on a new 82 2-tone blue Vette that he still owned in 1988. Talk about a bad investment move!

All too common of a story! 😏

One of the best Corvettes I ever owned was a triple black 81 that had been made into a convertible. I rebuilt the engine into a 355 with speed parts. It would get a lot of attention at show and shine events. I sold it at a Bloomington Gold Mecum auction several years ago and still regret letting it go.

I was born in 73 and growing up my uncle had a red 77 Corvette with the "sugar scoop" rear window. I remember being probably 10 or 12 and when he stopped by I would sit in it for hours out in the driveway. When the C4 came out, as a kid I remember thinking it was the coolest car on the planet. I had Corvette posters all over my bedroom walls. The digital dash gave me Knight Rider vibes. Sadly I never did have a Corvette until this year. I bought a 2003 C5 Z06 a month ago. I was looking at C6's and a friend mentioned he had a low mileage C5 for sale. (I loves me some pop-ups!) :) . When I drove this car it just "hit" different. This Z06 is on another level. The next day I bought it. Ill never sell this car. Now I am in the market for another one, a C3. My wife's favorite car is a 78 Corvette. Hopefully I can find her one in a manual. I have a feeling I started something here and I think I am going to need a much larger garage. I enjoyed your video and your story, Karl. Liked and subbed 👍

I graduated in '87... Three years later I saw a Corvette on a small lot fell in love right then & there. Begged my dad for days to lend me the other half of money I needed, obviously he knew better not to. Loved Vetts every since! Btw.. It was an all original Silver '63 Spit-window,red interior. $7700.00 Not many regrets in life but thats definitely one🙏
