Hi Mark, can you spec your rifle for me? I don't know every brand well enough to say. Thanks! Great review. I just subscribed.

That’s a great early review, Chris. Will you give us a more detailed review once you have used them operationally? Would love to know how you feel about using these without a tripod for an extended time. Are they manageable carrying around your neck? Thanks again. 👍🏻

Since ratings are subjective, there’s an argument that you shouldn’t discuss them until all reviewers have finished their evaluations.

Can't wait for this! Nates backpack and flycamp style of public land hunting resonates well with New Zealand hunters.

Will the RX-5000 drop a pin on Onx map when out of cell service and using down loaded maps ?

I reached out to our friends at Leupold and confirmed that no internet connection is needed for the pinning feature to work. You can apply your pins using downloaded maps. It's also worth noting that in their testing of the pinning accuracy, their dats consistently got them within 25 yards of a pin placed at 1,000 yards. There could have been several factors effecting my pin accuracy - metal interfering with the laser, the cactus not being the most reflective, etc.

Entering my first real year of hunting and I've decided I'm going to splurge on one item (go all the way, if you will), and that's going to be my binos. I have an entry level Vortex RF (7x mag) that will suite my needs for ranging and I do not yet have a scope. I'll be hunting deer, antelope, and elk in my home state, Idaho. After my lengthy introduction, my question for you is if you would recommend the NL 10x52's, NL 12x42's, or NL 14x52's? I'd love to go with the 14's as this will be the superior choice on a tripod. However, I will also be using them (solely) for handheld glassing. Do you think a lesser magnification will suite me better because of stability? Or do you think the 14's are stable enough to run on my chest, as well as on the tripod? Thanks in advance! This was a great video!
@westernhunter
@westernhunter 16 күн бұрын
While the 14s are truly spectacular, we're seeing a lot of interest in the 10x52 for a combo of handheld/tripod use. If I had to go with one for everything, a 10x52 or a 10x42 would be my choice - especially with a mix of open country and canyons.

Ugly boots. Get a pair of Red Wing Iron rangers or if you have the money get a pair of Nick's. Stay away from flash in the pan hyper branding like these.

To each his own. I love the look. I love Iron Rangers, too, but they definitely lean towards the "clown shoe" end of the spectrum. The mini lug on the Origin is a super classy look and a great trade-off between comfort, looks, and practicality. I have a pair of Red Wing 9111 with the white Cristy wedge soles. They're ridiculously stiff, making them super clunky, especially for a non-work boot, even after the leather has become as soft and supple as can be. I f*cking HATE wedge soles.

The 10x52 is very good for hand holding, and the 14x52 is shockingly comfortable for 14.7 magnification! Very doable.

Rediculous at this price point the headrest is not included . The the dial on it tirns so easily it never stays in place I’d have expected Ny now they’d have fixed that. Kind of lame
@jasonhiggins6431
@jasonhiggins6431 Ай бұрын
What dial ? Do you mean the focusing wheel ( which is designed by the worlds best optical engineers to turn easily ) or the diopter adjustment mechanism which never moves ? And as for price well like anything else in life you get what you pay for !think Ferrari , Snap on , Rolex 😂
@user-nw2si7hu3u
@user-nw2si7hu3u Ай бұрын
@@jasonhiggins6431the dial on the forehead stabilizer. I don’t find they are worth the $ compared to other binos at a fraction of the price they may be 5% better than others but not at 2x the cost. My fujinon smtx beat them in focus clarity, color fidelity, edge to edge, transmission and chromatic aberration and they only cost $800 😂 all you lose is a bit of fov and slight weight/size penalty and they’re better in low light snd 3D

Just picked up a pair of these today. Really wish they'd make the sf in wide sizes. I'm excited to see if these run cooler than my crispi guides. Also crispis (like almost all other boots) leak because gortex is trash. The liner usually breaks down around the toes from being flexed so often. You won't notice it in the rain or a creek crossing. Becomes very apparent in wet grass. Nice review

I'm considering both ATC and kowa 553. Over here the kowa 553 is only usd520 cheaper than ATC and only comes with 1 year warranty compared to 10 years from swarov. With a wider fov and potential higher resale value, more compact, it makes more sense to go with ATC for me.

How loud are the zippers and magnetic closures, and any snag hazards with this rangefinder tether?
@westernhunter
@westernhunter Ай бұрын
The zipper and magnetic closures are not loud at all. I’ve had zero issues with this harness, and it’s by far my preferred option on the market. I haven’t had any tether snag instances, and this harness contours very well to the body so I wouldn’t worry about that.
